Coburn: Don't believe Fox

Here's a bit of a signal moment in Republican politics: Oklahoma conservative Tom Coburn tells an angry town hall crowd in his home state to step back from the vilification of Democrats they've picked up from Fox News:

“What we have to have is make sure we have a debate in this country so that you can see what’s going on and make a determination yourself,” Coburn added and then again warned the crowd against the myths perpetrated on FOX News.

“So don’t catch yourself being biased by FOX News that somebody is no good. The people in Washington are good. They just don’t know what they don’t know,” Coburn said.

The conservative media has generally been driving the Republican leadership, and leading the opposition, and it's a rare thing to hear a Republican criticize Fox in such broad terms, and an act that carries some actual political risk.

WOW. Tom Coburn said that? Tom Coburn is one of my favorite Senators, and if he said that I would be very disappointed in him. He is a smarter man than that. Im sorry, but Fox news IS at least as fair as the other networks. Yes, you have shows like Beck and Hannity that are conservative, but is that any different than MSNBC having shows such as Olberman and Ed Shultz?? Give me a break. And politico needs to check itself. I WISH Republicnas listend more to conservative media. But thats not the case. I bet you most of the Republicans in Congress dont know of any Conservative talk hosts other than Rush and Hannity. Give me a break. Republicans are not being "driven by conservative media". The fact that Coburn was telling his townhall this should convince you that Republicans are not "driven by conservative media".

I think Tom was a real star in the healthcare debates.  very knowledgeable.
His comment is over the line but I also don't care for some of the people on Fox who spite the democrats (even though it's done on the left too)...just not my style of politics.  However, that is only a few of the people on Fox, most of them question the policies & moves of this administration like the other news media outlets are supposed to.  The actual news pieces have a conservative slant to some stories but are pretty good.  Big difference between the news programs and the commentators like Glenn Beck.
