Mexican president: Of course we ask immigrants to show their papers

Calderon told CNN yesterday isn’t quite accurate. Here’s the transcript:

"BLITZER: So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, they can just walk in?

CALDERON: No. They need to fulfill a form. They need to establish their right name. We analyze if they have not a criminal precedent. And they coming into Mexico. Actually…

BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?

CALDERON: Of course. Of course, in the border, we are asking the people, who are you?"

OF COURSE we do... And, of course, we must sit back, grab our ankles and take it like a newbie in jail.

Remember yesterday my friends... Remember them clapping. Then, take that anger to the polls and get rid of each and every one of them.
The more and more I think about it I am thinking voting independent. That is, someone who holds the constitution, less gov't, low taxes, and a "get outta my way" mentality when it comes to governing the people... I don't know if we have this on either side, or we will ever have it again.  :-[

333386, this is not surprising!  A lot of countries out there don't let you go anywhere without showing papers.  I always thought it's so great that the United States of America does not require American citizens to carry proof of citizenship with them at all times.  I guess, unfortunately, that is about to change.

Yeah, you know who ruined it?  The illegals who are crashing the system and costing taxpayers billions of dollars, committing crimes, etc etc.

well if so many didnt abuse the system it wouldnt be about to change, but unfortunantly there are many who just dont give a shit about doing things the right way, and these people are who the latinos who are worried about profiling should be mad at.

Nope.  You know who ruined it?

The American corporations who hire illegals, and the US government who turns a blind eye while giving illegals benefits.

I think it all goes hand-in-hand. Illegals want to come here because their country could care the less about them. American and other foriegn companies sees a bank of cheap labor, and politicians, mostly democrat, sees votes. It's a vicious circle and we the tax payers are paying for it.

I agree with you.  But I will add that American subsidized corn drove Mexican corn farmers out of business. Then companies like Tyson Foods and Smithfield Foods go to Mexico, hire workers from Mexico and other Central American nations, then take them across the border to the US and put them in trailer parks so they can work at their meat packing plants.  The US government does nothing about it, except offer illegals benefits.

No it was not...National IDs were coming into being in america and the rest of the world whether there were people "illegally" in a nation or not. I believe it is Latvia that has already established the National ID card system COMPLETELY in their nation. Everything form buying gas to going to the library to using the internet, to paying your bills etc etc is done through your ID card...there is no option...cash not accepted. You MUST have your ID card with you at all times and you can be arrested for NOT having it. Latvia is not exactly a nation where people pour in from other nations to warrant this action

when they are identified thru LEGAL means which DO NOT IMPEDED THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMEICAN, I am fine with them being crippled.

it's about American rights.  You give one a-hole cop the ability to card anyone he wants, and you give an entire police force the ability to round up crowd during any event and cage them until power and wifi access is restored to 'run their papers'.

We both know, you start publicly destroying legs of proven illegals, a helluva lot less walk this way.

No american should ever lose his freedom (and stand there in cuffs while papers are checked) if he has not committed a crime.  Fvck that "officer determined probable cause" shiit.

Illegals, they have no rights.  They're about as lovable as garbage that washes up from mexican power plants.  break em and ship them.  They are breaking american law - they are declaring war, as far as I'm concerned.  Anyone call me 'soft on illegals', I'll break the first leg myself, pass me the ABS baton kid.

But no american should ever have to sit in cuffs cause some cop didn't like his look.  Period.

That's explicitly not allowed in the law.

Honestly, would it really bother you 240 for a cop to walk-up and ask you for ID?

YES YES YES.

I was detained for 15 min.  handcuffed by police.  I broke no law, other than looking like someone they were looking for.

They made up some BS about the street lane not allowing a turn - I pointed out the break in the lane - it was near a fire station and yes, 20 people turned there while i pointed it out to the cop.

I looked like the white guy they were looking for.  At the time, I sheepled it up, "yes sir" cause I didn't want a bullet in my ass from the 140 pound rookie who was scared to remove the legal weapon from my pocket.

But yes dude - becaue here is the problem - the SAME COP will have the power to gaffle the SAME PERSON any time he wants.  Right now, as a cop, I dont have the ability to blindly pull over the mexican who is dating my ex every morning, put him in cuffs, and run his papers daily.  With this bill - they do!

There will be abuses.  period.  If this limits the rights of a single american for 5 minutes - I AM AGAINST IT.  Don't worry, the same RINO posers who voted Palin and Romney in 2008 and screamed about 'how they were soooo conservative" while shitting on Tancredo and Ron Paul, are the same confused folks backing this bill.

it deprives americans of their rights - period.  Unacceptable to me.

So it happened to you one time in your life.....15 minutes.....and you are what, 25 or so?  C'mon, that isn't that big a deal. There are already cops abusing the system pulling over ex gf's, etc... this type of law being enforced won't change that.  I remember walking in an area in Boston years ago and coming upon something going on, cops asked for ID, looked them over and waved us on thru.....took about 10 seconds.

See, in my view, we already give up many rights.....for example expectancy of privacy when in public.....and this is no different.  Technically you already are required to carry some form of ID when you are in public.....if not, you can get picked up for loitering, vagrancy, etc... and this really isn't that different.

I'm big on protecting rights....BUT I see the impact of these illegal turds as FAR MORE of an infringement on my rights, than a 5 minute inconvenience.

he doesnt care about that he wants to wait until they commit another crime before we can punish them for the first one...nevermind ppl are put in cuffs all the time when they are suspected of commiting a crime whether they did or not...suspected illegals shouldnt be inconvienced right 240?  ::)

those who are willing to trade liberty for security deserve neither - ben franklin.

ONCE, to any american, is unacceptable.  I probably would have agreed with you - until I had to stand there helpless in cuffs with my kid staring at me, while this cop waits ten minutes for a buddy to arrive.  Then, he shot the shit for 5 minutes with him about this and that, ran my ID in 30 seconds, and sent me on my way.  That's 15 minutes I felt helpless and was deprived of my rights.  And I'm a college educated white guy who would have NO PROBLEM calling the ACLU and making a website about it in a minute lol... what does some young legal hispanic kid, or some old hispanic woman, have as a recourse?  They STFU and endure it.  On american soil.  When they've done nothing wrong.

until you have to stand there like that - and you've broken no law - you wouldn't understand.   Spend 15 min cuffed in front of your kid when you've done nothing wrong - and you may change your position.  I might have felt like you do - before.

You know how I feel - if they're illegal, you break them.

If they're legal, you leave them alone.  There are already plenty of means besides "grabbing them BEFORE they commit a crime."

Then again, you were probably cool with pre-emptive war too, right?  "Iraq MIGHT do something someday... I am sure not going to enlist... but I'm cool with bombing them!"

Pre-emptive right removal of legal americans.  Cause they might commit a crime someday?

Sorry guys, I'm all for kicking the illegals out.  Just not at the expense of americans.  We want the same goal - we just are willing to take diff paths to get there.

So the cops investigating a murder find someone who looks like a suspect should not be able to detain the person unless they are 10000% sure they have the guy?

What the hell is wrong with you?
