I am really going to try and watch this and see what all the talk is about.  I did watch a little of the S. Korea/Greece game and am going to watch the entire England/US game. 
Maybe it's because I grew up watching (US) football and some baseball, but I never  understood the appeal of soccer (football).
Can someone tell me why people keep blowing those horns??? (I think that's what it is)...
Just trying to get an understanding and maybe pick up on something new to watch....

That would be the opposite effect as most sports fans don't enjoy commercials.  You are talking about from a corporate standpoint, I'm talking about from a fan perspective.  And we get all the WC games on ESPN with no commercial breaks, yet it still isn't a hugely popular event here.

The horns are called vuvuzelas, to be honest they're already starting to annoy the hell out of me...I think theyre some sort of tradition in south africa or something, cos i never seen or heard of one till a couple of days ago, and i been watching football since coming out the womb

Americans like sports that they dominate that's it , if the US soccer team was the best in the world ,soccer would be huge in America.
I heard people  in America saying tennis sucks now , isn't like it used to be when Sampras ,Agassi were playing  ::)
HW boxing is dying despite the fact that Vitali Klitchko made 25million in his last fight.

Americans got really excited about the Tour the France when Amstrong was dominating  now they don't give a fuck
Swimming was the most exciting sport in the world  ::) in the last Olympic games................... ........................ ..................
