Not to change the subject, ...but I just thought of the thread title, ...and another question occurred to me...

How will this affect the price of gas?  :o

won't the oil companies use this as an excuse to raise prices... claiming scarcity of supply?

Saudi is not running out of oil ANYTIME soon...think 300 years or more...

only thing that will happen is we'll be more dependent on Saudi oil...and now we'll have an excuse to buy from them ..." hey folks we really dont have another option than to buy from the saudis"

convenient eh....and we thought bush ws the only one sucking saudi cock.... ::)

You are such a little shit! Where did you learn your technique... supply teaching? {shakes head in disbelief}
I don't think I ever met a person who so thoroughly knew how to get under people's skin with just enough sting to bug the crap out of them, ...but not enough to make them want to hurt you. It's a very delicate balance you've seemed to master quite well. You've risen it to almost an art form.

Thanks jag... I think as long as I'm 'fair and balanced', people don't mind.  If ya scorch both sides equally for obvious (and true) things, it's all in good fun.

How will this oil leak rupture the debate on the safety of off shore drilling?

I seem to remember a few heated debates about year ago regarding how off shore drilling have dramatically improved in the last 20 years and that the people (characterized as tree hugging, Al Gore Worshiping, double standard liberals) against off shore drilling were being alarmist.

Can anyone see where this is going?  Will future presidents ban it?

Drill Baby Drill !!!  ;)

i have to wonder if the phrase "Drill baby drill" will completely disappear now.

Can you imagine some asshat wearing such a hat to the beaches in Lousiana?  Can you imagine walking into a tourist-less bar in the FL Keys wearing such a shirt?  I have to wonder how many toothless fisherman screamed that in attack of some Kenyan named Hussein something, who might be feeling differently today.

It didn't take me long to see that the energy released in the combustion of hydrogen might be more than the energy required to split water.

This is so not true,...get thee to a community college and take physics...read about James Prescott Joules.

I will even describe the experiment for you…

You build a Hydrogen/oxygen generator entirely inside of a calorimeter, measuring the energy going into the splitting of the hydrogen from the oxygen.  Then you burn the hydrogen and oxygen derived thusly inside another calorimeter and measure the resulting energy.  The resulting energy will be the same that went into the first calorimeter,  minus the inefficiencies of the process.

actually big distilled water plants deliver millions of gallons of distilled water to hundreds of thousands of labs every day...

besides....an initial 5k invenstment with solar panels and you could distill all the water you want at home for free for life

When you throw in a new market involving millions of cars, you'll see price increases. mark my words.
Some crafty entrepreneur will figure out a way to put a toll on water. Rain barrels will become a standard fixture in people's backyards. And backyard faucets will soon be encased in lock boxes on the sides of houses.

Peak oil isn't about running out of oil, but running out of the capacity to refine it.

Less entrepreneurial greed, and more corporate responsibility is a good thing,
...without it, we need more regulation to protect the population.
