The sport of "punching" vs the sport of "fighting".  Boxing has been surpassed by MMA and will never recover.

UFC is getting exposed for what it is, a bunch of wrestlers and bjj guys who just want to roll around the whole fight and some F -grade strikers.
The crowd boos everytime it goes to ground and cheers when they are trading, even it's own fans are confused. Cut out all of the hype and false macho stuff and you have a very boring sport. It will hopefully dissapear soon, along with it's hillbilly fans

and what about your lightweight boxers that never KO their opponents and go the distance. You're telling me that's exciting?

Boxing has not yet been surpassed, but I feel it will be...Boxing is to one dimensional to keep peoples' attention for the long run....Why do you think MMA exploded when it came onto scene?? Boxing has been around basically since men competed against one another for sport...MMA gives fighting for sport a more complex audience appreciating that one man can beat another with more than just his fists....

As boxers would be weeping boys to BJJ blackbelts, wrestlers and  kick boxers......How many golden glove boxers have dominated in MMA when they couldn't make any money in boxing???

If you can't make any money in boxing then you are not a good boxer. Golden Gloves is amateur, the amateurs that don't succeed are the guys without the power or durability to make the pro ranks, pitty patty amateur style boxing is not a good crossover style.

Ha ha...gotta love the idiocracy of the thread title..."The UFC will soon die"as if the UFC is a sport....Ufc is a company...MMA is a sport...And it's no Fad it's here to stay...As a matter of fact it isn't even close to being what it will be...When a generation of kids/teenagers grow into adults and have seen the sport evolve and grew up watching it.which will give them the warm fuzzy feelin inside the way the boxing dinosaurs are when talking Ali,Foreman,Frazier, and joe Louis...At that point (next 5-10 years)MMA will explode in popularity far more than what it is now...

UFC is MMA. It is the only promotion that makes money. In japan all of the big promotions have folded, the same pattern has happened elsewhere, without the UFC there is no MMA.

Okay, watch how they "groom" these boxers these days, throwing them lay down fight after fight just to get them "experience"....You know what is great about MMA is that a guy can have 5 fights under his belt and get a shot at someone with more experience to make some money...I am not making this stuff up, talk to anyone that knows anything about boxing and they will tell you that these days a boxer that has any talent will have 20+ fights before he is let a shot a bigger and better things, how exciting is that??? Look I like both boxing and MMA, but the boxing nuthuggers need to grow up and realize which direction prize fighting is going in

Giving Randy fifty title shots or Lesnar coming in and getting a title shot after four fights is better? Boxing has it's flaws, but bringing fighters through slowly isn't one of them. If you put a novice in against Wlad, it would be suicide. Even guys like Foreman came through slowy. Boxing has a lot of problems, but better the current system than an org that decides to give title shots to fighters based on marketability and not graft.

Seriously, I watch boxing (not religiously) and I can only name off about 3 or 4 top one now..........Now go out in public (Jay Leno esq) and ask people how many current champion boxers they know....Wouldn't surprise me if they can maybe name off Mayweather and that is it....

How many Mixed Martial Artists or BJJ/Wrestlers et cetera could they name. Combat sports just aren't hugely mainstream. Boxing has always had a handfull of guys who are known and a ton who aren't. Right now it's Manny and Floyd. Most russians don't even know who Fedor is, this despite him being a guest of Putin's and a sambo champ. All russians talk about is Wlad and Vitali, which is weird because nobody in America gives a shit.

Dude, a lot of people know the names Chuck Liddell, Brock Lesnar, GSP, Tito Ortiz, Rampage Jackson, etc.  When you ask people to name boxers they still say Mike Tyson...lol.

Russia is a huge country and a supposed mma stronghold, but who gives a shit, it's not America so it doesn't matter. I didn't say nobody could name mma fighters, i said that combat sports aren't hugely mainstream. Most people could name a few boxers and a few mma guys and not know who the fuck the majority of them are. I'm not talking about fans of the sports but casuals.

Also, what is sad is that Fedor could be making much more money fighting for the UFC and WEC if he were not owned by the russian powers that be....

Boxing has been surpassed by UFC in worldwide google searches, for quite some time already. The only time the word "boxing" is searched more is on the Boxing Day holiday, which has nothing to do with boxing. Even a major boxing event barely spikes at all, as compared to a UFC event, it's not even close. Do a google trends and see for yourself.

Exactly .
I don't exactly remember who was fighting ( Mayweather or Pacquiao )  was a UFC card and a big boxing event the same night ,you couldn't find a single bar that showed the  UFC card.

Saying that an MMA guy would get his ass kicked in boxing makes as much sense as saying a boxer would get his ass kicked in a swim meet.
