Here is an observation.  People criticize when someone cheats on lifts.  I gotta tell you why would that be an issue at all.  Everyone and I mean everyone who does this are guys who have no real size or strength.  and the guys you criticize are the guys who are huge and strong and somewhat successful at lifting.  so don't you think that if cheating was so bad that you (the person who does strict reps) would be huge and strong and making money from you body.  Sure the way he does and every other successful powerlifter, bodybuilder or strength athlete has some cheating in it, but it sure seems to work.  If cheating gets you 20"+ arms and a 500+ pound bench and envious looks from everyone who sees you then I would think you should consider mixing in a few cheat reps because your strict rep idea is not working.

its not about cheating, its about working the right muscle. kai greene cheats alot and uses momentum and "sway", but his form is always perfect otherwise. dorian yates is another awesome example.

there is a difference

No difference sorry.  When you do a cheat curl you are working primarily your biceps.  You may use some lower back and shoulders and whatever else but I will tell you the next day you will feel it in your biceps.  You will NOT make gains in size or strength unless you push the limit and to do that form has to sacrifice.  Show me one just one guy who has built size and strength by using a weights that don't push him enough to cheat.

when doing a cheat curl CORRECTLY then your working primarily biceps. but when your doing a standing clean with a palms out grip on an ez bar.. thats not biceps..

I think he starts with 595.  I think he has 315 on the final set.  I can't see how 225 would be so hard even after those reps.  It just moves like it is heavier than 225.  Just saying but not sure.  And don't forget Coleman is heavier and alot better drugs.

Bertil was no tiny tit. He was 260 pounds in the offseason and sported 22" arms (according to him).

like i said, he looks amazing

thos ebi's were probably built more due to his back exercises than his bicep exercises... judging by those videos he probably had sloppy form on every exercise and used a shit-ton of bi's for all his back movements.

awesome physique and some good strength on the bench

dont understand the praise for these workouts though.. maybe you guys are being sarcastic and i dont realise it.. his form is horrible! not just a little bit of cheating, every movement he did became a compound/full body exercise.. lol

FYI thats how you build a brute, Herculean type physique. Bertil was a mans man and his training and physique showed that.

Whatever dude.....form is overrated IMO.  heavy weights build muscles...just because you are using a little body english doesn't mean you aren't working the intended muscles.

i agree but thats not what bertil is doing.  watch dorian train, watch kai train, hell even watch ronnie train.  ronnie uses a ton of sway and momentum, but its obvisous the target muscle is still doing the burnt of the work. bertil is doing movements completely unrelated to the exercise hes supposed to be doig. like whats with the top portion of his incline dumbell curls? throwing in a little bit of lat-stretching ?? lol

Prolly contracting his bi's, that's an old school move right there taking your elbows up so high...it is pretty weird LOL.

but that looks like a tough set of inclines with fucking 90's to me....bis definitely getting hit

hes not using that heavy of weight on the curls..  theres a difference between

a little cheating on the last few reps or on the heaviest set

and

throwing around the weights with no attention at all to using the correct muscle

anyways, not looking to get into that discussion right now.. cool video  :)

I always thought his training methods were the reason why his back was not as impressive as his front half. As you need a mind-muscle connection or he didn't think it was that important.

wrong again.  I was taught the same way as I was taught to do standing barbell curls (with not super heacvyweight) to bring the bar up to the forehead so your triceps are parallel with the ground.  It forces you to contract your biceps more.  Just like what he is doing with the incline dumbbells.  I used to have guys work in with me at the gym and I would show them this way and they would do one set and would tell me how much more of a burn they felt.  I always listened to guys when the finished product like they had was so impressive like Bertil's.  Again, Tbomz you are a good guy and young but how can you say he is wasting movement or not doing the curls right when his biceps look like that.  Mine were a hard 21" at this time.  Roy Callendar who told me this had great arms.

Training is overrated. Train as sloppy as you want, as you long as you cause hypertrophy, take your drugs, eat, sleep and have Bertil's genetics, you will end up with a brutal chest, awesome biceps and no back width.

Bertil could have used perfect form, he would have looked the same. Arnold could also have trained HIT....It is not a sport. Remember?

As I was looking at the dumbell presses, I began to think that maybe it is not important to have both dumbells synchronized at the same speed, but let it go at the speed of what the chest is pressing it as. As bertil's chest is a testament. And I haven't heard of him tearing a pec. One side may be stronger than the other, so let each sid go at it's own rate.

I couldn't agree more.

as long as you are training hard enough to grow, it doesn't matter what the fuck you are doing. Your genetics and drugs dictate what you will look like.
