Union members to picket Obama event (unions realize Barry selling them out too)

A contingent of United Auto Workers from both Racine and Kenosha are expected to show up in Racine on Wednesday afternoon to convince President Barack Obama there is a way to keep jobs in both communities.
Glenn Stark, president of Local 72 of the UAW in Kenosha, said it makes no sense that Fiat, which owns a controlling interest in Chrysler, plans to close the Kenosha engine plant in the fall, idling as many as 600 workers.
Fiat also owns CNH, the corporate name for Case-New Holland, and operates the tractor assembly plant in Mount Pleasant. Stark said Fiat is planning to build a tractor engine plant in China, and will export the engines to Racine for assembly.
Workers at CNH are represented by UAW Local 180, Stark said.
"Those engines could be made in Kenosha and sent to Racine, or they can be built halfway around the world," Stark said.
Stark said UAW officials had spoken with Gov. Jim Doyle about the issue. Doyle is expected to be in Racine on Wednesday for Obama's economic town-hall meeting. A Doyle spokesman did not return calls seeking comment.
"We will picket the visit and press the issue," Stark said, "The U.S. government needs to talk to Fiat. We need to put Americans to work."
