I remember the first time it landed at LAX.  My dad got us onto the runway with the all the media and press.  We were standing on the grass as close as we could get.  They said it was going to be really loud but I don't remember it being loud.  I was in maybe 8th grade or around there.  Never got to go on it though.  Oh and it quit operations mostly because of 9-11.  People just weren't flying that much and they didn't have alot of planes

Ne neither.  If they had TurdCam so you could see it getting shot out of the plane I'd do it for sure.

My dad travels a lot for work, he flew on the Concorde once, says it was it was a really cool experience, very fast, first class service on the entire plane, nice lounge to wait in for it, says seats were extremely tight (but he's overweight).

Wish I could've tried it once!

the reason the tyre blew was because another plane left some debris on the runway.

from wiki,

On 10 April 2003, Air France and British Airways simultaneously announced that they would retire Concorde later that year. They cited low passenger numbers following the 25 July 2000 crash, the slump in air travel following the 11 September attacks and rising maintenance costs. Although Concorde was a technological marvel when introduced into service in the 1970s, 30 years later its cockpit, cluttered with analogue controls and dials, looked dated, as there had been little commercial pressure or reason to upgrade Concorde due to a lack of competing aircraft, unlike other airliners of the same vintage, for example the Boeing 747. By its retirement, it was the last aircraft in British Airways' fleet that still had a flight engineer; other aircraft, such as the modernised 747-400, had eliminated that role.

It had a bad fuel economy, was extremely loud, couldn't land on most runways.

According to whom?  The tickets were not cheap so I hardly think the cost of fuel was the issue.

I'm not sure how long commercial jets are kept in service but according to Wiki the Concorde was in service from 1976-2003.  That's pushing 30 years.  Is that typical for other jets?

Pretty standard age for airplanes, the 747's are older and still flying strong.. it was first flown commercially in 1970, the interior has been updated and reupholstered but it's still the same plane flying today.

No, he is exactly correct

as the airline industry changed in the 2000s, adn companies began to cripple, downsize, and belt-tighten........ the Concorde became an un-pragmatic, over-expensive, dinosaur , plus by the time it was retired in 2003........it was almost 30 years old

its not that it didnt perform correctly, or that there was a problem with it,,,,,,,,,the industry just changed

just like the sr-71 spy plane.........there was no problem with it,........it was a marvel of modern achievement........but with improved satellite technology, and the cold war ending..........it just became an overly-expensive albatross

most of the 747-200's you are thinking of are in service in africa now or have been scrapped.

Either way the plane originally created as the 747 is still flying around the world, many of them are.. planes like hotels and motels are upgraded cosmetically every number of years as things like seats are worn out or fashion changes.

I agree most planes go through several refits throughout their lives and go through several owners too... people would be amazed how many used parts are used on planes.

Tickets were horrendously priced - 8000 to 11000 €.
All upper class, although many celebs got their ticket for free e.g. Keith, Madonna, Gates, etc.

What do you expect ?!!? it had a top speed of something like mach 1.5

civilian airplanes don't fly that fast, speed comes with a price.

Not really.  Just a few here and there.  I am 51 years old and grew up in a place and time where I got to do alot.  I was lucky to have a couple parents who had their shit together and wanted to make sure we got to experience as much as possible.  I have forgotten way more than I can remember, so that's why I get excited when I can remember something.

Back in 1997 my Uncle who flew on the Concord a lot invited me to go along with him on the Concode to London. If I remember correctly it took off in NY and took 3 hours to reach London. So if you left at 1pm you would reach London at 9pm, but on the way back you would actually get home 2 hours before you let, weird. BTW, I declined to go, no way I was getting on that thing.
