  • Been real, been nice...but it hasnt been Real Nice
I suppose the cameramen, photographers, and magazine writers are simply there for their health.

Besides, who needs ESPN? In this age of the Internet and Facebook, people would rather get the results immediately, instead of waiting three to six months for ESPN to air severely-edited footage of bodybuilding contests, as it did back in the days of American Muscle. And, you can watch the shows online, instead of waiting until the wee hours of the morning (again, MONTHS after the contest took place).

"press" means media........papers, magazines, television,

"press" in this case does not mean...........2 guys from bodybuilding magazines, and a bodybuilding photographer

i shouldnt have to explain this to you

as press conference is where media outlets cover a story for a event to be translated to the general public

no one in south flordia will be covering this event from any ACTUAL press

this serves more as a "meet the  competitors" event

The bodybuilding magazines and websites will be covering this event, as expected for a bodybuilding contest.

The general public DOES NOT CARE about bodybuilding. We pretty much know that. So, what's the point of your complaining about it? As I said earlier, with the advent of the internet, bodybuilding fans would MUCH RATHER get the results and/or see the bodybuilding contests IMMEDIATELY, than wait for ESPN to air a contest (after it's been chopped, edited, and dubbed beyond repair) MONTHS after the show has taken place.

If ESPN covered this show the way it used to do bodybuilding contests, back in the late 80s/early 90s, you'd probably wouldn't see it until aorund Christmas (at the earliest). And then, you'd have to be up at 3 a.m. to catch the 30-minute version of the show.

As the Tampa Bay area, where I grew up,  isn't considered "South Florida" (that's Miami, Ft. Lauderdale territory), your astute observation is noted.

The "general" public does not care about bodybuilding because it's filled with freaks and dumbasses.  I mean look at your average bodybuilder and the shit that they do, the way they dress, the drugs they take.  It's a circus literally.  Look at the women.  Pathetic.  Why the fuck are male bodybuilders still wearing a fucking g-string in competition?  They are fucking gay!  No one cares about your hip tie ins and we can see how big your thighs are with posing trunks/boy shorts without the gay ass bikini brief.  That's the main problem with bodybuilding nowadays.....its been schmoed up by all the fags in the business.

Press conference?  LOL Oh brother........

Haha.........look at Chic's outfit........epic True Religion jeans with the Affliction button up shirt!  That style is so last year....... ;D

Bodybuilding hasn't been "schmoed" up by anyone. And the trunks have nothing to do with it. People thought bodybuilders were gay, since the days of Arnold and before then (and their trunks were much more conservative then). Yes, that includes the "Golden Era" of bodybuilding. It was so golden that you could count the number of pro contests on one hand. To top it all off, only the winner got paid.

Nearly every criticism that you've cited now could be cited back in the day. As I said, the mere fact that we can see these contests live, instead of waiting for months for ESPN to show it at 0-dark-30 in the morning, and that more bodybuilders are getting more money shows that bodybuilding has grown.

Heck, the focus of this contest was a guy who waited TWO YEARS to compete. Meanwhile he got a nice supplement endorsement contract, BEFORE HE EVEN TURNED PRO.

Yeah I'm sure everyone took one look at John Grimek, Steve Reeves,  Dave Draper, and Vince Gironda and screamed gay!!!!!!!!!!!  LMAO!  You're delusional.  Bodybuilding and homosexuality have always been linked that's very true.  But it was never so up front and in your face as it is today.  The antics of Kai Green would have gotten his ass beat down back in the 50's and 60's. Times were different back then but so was bodybuilding.  Look at the female aspect of bodybuilding.  It's borderline pornography not health and fitness and beauty.
