Exactly..like that HFuckabee character.  Why does he give a shit how often Obama worships.  I would think being a Republican he would mind his own business about personal decisions.  You know that thing called separation of Church and State  ::)
Well, at least Gov huckabee came acorss as sincere in his faith and a decent man.
Having said that, while I respect the man , I don't want him or anyone else telling me they passed some law based on the bible or GOD.
I don't go to church nor belong to any religion.

The DREAM Act was also "paperclipped" to this defense bill. It wasn't all about Don't Ask Don't Tell.

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act - Dream Act.

McCain: Obama Pandering to Gay/Lesbian Vote
Wednesday, 22 Sep 2010

Sen. John McCain blasted Democrats for forcing a vote on the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The Arizona senator wants to wait until the military completes a review of the repeal's potential impact on troops, according to a report at theatlantic.com.

"November second is only a few days away," McCain said. "And the president of the United States made a commitment to the gay and lesbian community that he would make the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' one of his priorities."

"Whether you agree or disagree with this policy," McCain added, "the Senate should not be forced to make this decision now, before we've heard from our troops."

"Why would the majority leader and chairman want to bring up 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' then the DREAM Act, then secret holds, and then bring up the rest of the bill after the elections?" McCain asked. "One can draw the conclusion that this is all about elections, not the well being ... and battle effectiveness of the men and women laying it on the line today."

Exactly, the same BS they always pull. If the bill is so great let it stand on its own.

Bill Clinton: Powell 'Sold Me' Different Bill of Goods on 'Don't Ask'
Wednesday, 22 Sep 2010
By: Rick Pedraza

Former President Bill Clinton said he regrets implementing the ban on gay troops serving openly in the military because it does not represent what Colin Powell “sold” him when the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff proposed don’t ask, don’t tell as a compromise.

“Keep in mind, I didn't choose this policy,” Clinton said Tuesday on the CBS Evening News.

“When Colin Powell sold me on ‘don't ask, don't tell,’ here's what he said it would be: Gay service members would never get in trouble for going to gay bars [or] marching in gay rights parades as long as they weren't in uniform.”

Clinton made his comments just hours after Senate Republicans blocked a $726 billion defense spending bill that would have included repeal of the controversial policy.

"That was what they were promised,” Clinton said. “That's a very different ‘don't ask, don't tell’ than we got."

Clinton said Powell persuaded him to accept a compromise on the controversial 1993 legislation “because it was better than an absolute ban on gay service. I was promised it would be better than it was.”

The former president said Powell swayed him after it became clear both the House and Senate were going to adopt an absolute ban on gays in the military otherwise.

“Both Houses of Congress had voted by a huge veto-proof margin to legislate the absolute ban on gays in the military if I didn't do something else,” Clinton said. “I didn't do anything until the votes were counted.”

Powell, a former secretary of state under President George W. Bush and national security adviser under President Ronald Reagan, has done an about-face on don’t ask, don’t tell since his days in the Clinton administration. He now supports repeal of the law, along with other top administration officials.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, support repeal of the policy. But they don’t want Congress to act until the military concludes its study, due Dec. 1, on how to lift the ban without hurting morale, recruiting, or retention.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Tuesday showed that 3 out of 4 people polled believe openly gay people should be allowed to serve in the military, up from 62 percent in early 2001 and 44 percent in 1993. The number of Republicans who support repealing the ban doubled from 32 percent to 64 percent since 1993.

See what happens when idiots jump to conclusions and start blaming Republicans for everything?

Why did Democrats attach the Dream Act to this bill? No politician in their right mind would vote for such measure. Thank Reid for its failure.

I agree, but try having a Jesus Freak voting base in your country. It tends to keep us behind a few years socially.

Only a matter of time now, anyway.

It's interesting to see who will be judged as being on the wrong side of history. Bigotry isn't a resume builder.

Or what? Our army won't be as strong as yours....OOOPS!! That's right!! Ours is already the best in the world. Never mind!!!

Besides, many of these other countries have MANDATORY military service for males at age 18; so, they have no choice about having homos serving openly.

Six British Men Arrested After Quran BurningUpdated: 19 hours 22 minutes ago

AOL News LONDON (Sept. 23) -- Six men from northern England have been arrested after they filmed themselves burning a copy of the Quran on the anniversary of 9/11 and then posted the footage on YouTube.

The two-and-a-half-minute video (which can still be seen on YouTube) starts with a gang of men, wearing keffiyeh-style face masks made from dishcloths, waving the holy book in front of the camera. The group's apparent leader then declares, "This is the Quran, right, it's full of ----. We are going to burn this mother------." The men dance on the book, douse it with gasoline and set in on fire. The leader then shouts, "This is for the boys in Afghanistan."

As a second book is tossed into the flames, the man announces, "September 11: International Burn the Koran Day." One member of the group, who appears to be standing at the back of a pub, then gives away their hometown, shouting, "This is how we do it in Gateshead, right."

The men seem to have been motivated by American pastor Terry Jones' threat to burn the Islamic holy book earlier this month. He canceled the event after top U.S. politicians and members of the military warned that the act could endanger American lives.

Police in the city of Gateshead -- some 230 miles north of London -- raided the pub where the books were burned on Sept. 15 and arrested a bar worker and another man on suspicion of violating a 2006 law that bans the use of "threatening words or behavior" that could intentionally stir up "religious hatred." Four other men were seized elsewhere in the city on Wednesday.

Sponsored Links None of the men have been charged, and all have been released on bail pending further inquiries. If found guilty of religious hatred -- something no one has been convicted of since the law was introduced in 2006 -- they could face up to seven years in prison, a fine or both.

The arrested barman today protested his innocence in the Daily Mail, saying, "I had nothing to do with the fire. I smelt the smoke so I went outside to put it out." The worker, who refused to give his name, said the police confiscated his mobile phone, CDs and DVDs and took away all of the pub's dishcloths.

He added that officers targeted the pub because it was popular with members of the far-right English Defence League. The EDL claims that it is a peaceful, non-racist organization opposed only to "militant Islam." However, the movement includes known soccer hooligans and members of the British National Party, which has been accused of being an anti-Semitic and racist political group. Over the past year, it has staged numerous rallies in largely Muslim residential areas and has engaged in violent clashes with the police, local residents and anti-fascist protesters.

I don't get everyone's confusion. You can be a gay man in the military, it's not against the law. Here's the thing, not all but most homosexuals, that part of their life is their entire identity, everything surrounds and revolves around them being gay...that's a major problem. So the deal is, be gay if you want, join the military if you want, fine, just keep your personal info to yourself.

Apparently Islam is a race now. This isn't surprising, though. England is embarrassingly pathetic. Meanwhile, Muslims preach for jihad in the streets.  ::)
