Not with a barbell, only dumbells.
Goudy does them.Think he even posted some vids on the training log board. You should ask him.
PIP Goudy I wish Ursus would've been around to meet him.
I always thought miltary presses were standing with a bb..anything else (db press, seated bb press) is just that, not a military. No?
He sounds like a specky phag to me.
Before the bench press became popular, that was the pressing lift that all the old timers did. They lacked the pectoraldevelopment of what you see today, but they generally had a stronger core. For the most part, everything was done standing.
I like standing db presses, mainly because I'm not coordinated enough to kick them up while seated.
Don't feel bad.Lots of people have trouble kicking up the 140’s.
You're too good to me. Maybe 140lbs combined?
vastly overrated.and useless for most day to day activities i.e. functional strength.
Anyone else use kettlebells for shoulder presses? It seems like my shoulder strength and whole body strength has gone way up using them. Swing them up into a rack position and press them overhead. I can one hand press a 48kg (105.6lb) kb over my head 3 times and press 2 36kg bells each hand (79.2lb each). I know there is technique involved but it was difficult to two hand swing a 36kg kb when i first got it. It just feels way better than pressing a barbell or dumbbell. Much better rotation and movement. Shoulders don't get sore either. It feels like they are getting stronger from every angle and it translated to some really good functional strength.Hand stand push ups are a good change too.
