Secretary of State Ross Miller Says All Legitimate Reports of Suspicious Election Activity Will be Investigated by State and Federal Officials

(Carson City, NV; October 27, 2010) – Secretary of State Ross Miller said today that the Nevada Election Integrity Task Force has not received any formal complaints of voter or election law violation, despite numerous media accounts and email chains that repeat rumor and speculation about suspicious election activity, including vote incentives and malfunctioning voting machines. The Task Force is made up of elections officials and investigators from the Office of Secretary of State, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, the US Attorneys Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“In 2008, I established the Election Integrity Task Force so that any real attempt at election fraud would be immediately investigated and the appropriate action taken,” Secretary Miller said at a press conference today. “I will not tolerate any attempt by an individual, organization, or campaign, to deny any Nevadan the right to freely cast their vote in a safe, secure, and private manner. But neither will I stand by and allow the public’s confidence in the electoral system be undermined by unsubstantiated rumors and allegations. If anyone has personal experience or personal knowledge of an instance of an election law violation, I urge them to contact the Election Integrity Task Force. A state or federal investigator will be dispatched immediately to interview the complainant and gather all the facts in the case.”

Secretary Miller expanded on three cases of unsubstantiated allegations, including reports about alleged vote incentive offers and reports of malfunctioning electronic voting machines in Clark County:
• No formal complaint has been filed regarding these allegations of vote incentives or machine malfunctions.
• Nevada state law says any bribe or attempt to stop someone from voting or to vote a certain way is a violation.
• Hosting a post-election party open to anyone who voted or offering a voter a free ride to the polls is not a violation of State law as long as they do not attempt to influence the voters’ choices.
• Federal and state law differ somewhat and anyone thinking of conducting such activities should consult with federal officials or legal counsel before doing so.
• In spite of news reports of election machines in Clark County preselecting candidates, the Task Force has received no official complaint from any individual who actually had that experience.
• It is technically impossible for someone to pre-program software in Nevada’s voting machines.
• The software and equipment are verified for functionality at the national level and then are maintained by the individual counties. A lack of a centralized authority renders that scenario an impossibility.
• The Secretary of State’s office has received a formal complaint from the Nevada Republican Party regarding differences in the numbers of votes cast on the machines and the paper voting logs. These differences occur in every election cycle and are usually due to common elections procedures. 2008 was no exception, and the issues identified by the Republicans in this election were also brought up by the Barack Obama campaign in 2008. The numbers are always reconciled and all votes that are actually cast are counted. Nonetheless, to verify beyond doubt that these discrepancies are part of the normal administration of elections, the Secretary of State takes the issue very seriously and has assigned one of his top attorneys from outside of the elections division to conduct a thorough investigation. A final report will be made available to the public.

“In closing, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process,” Secretary Miller said. “Nevadans should consider it their civic duty to formally report any personal experiences with election law violations to the Election Integrity Task Force.”

Here is the problem.Do you know that George Soros had an operation called "operation secratary of state".Trying to put in place secrataries that HE picked. He did this for one reason. They are responsible for investigating voter fraud. He knows democrats can only win by cheating so if he is picking the secrataries of state, they get away with it.

What the heck do you expect when you use electronic voting machines?
It's been well established that electronic voter machines are there to facilitate fraud.
As long as you have electronic voting, the citizenry is disenfranchised.

What the heck is wrong with good old fashioned paper ballots?   ::)

Low-tech but effective. Paper ballots worked just fine for me, during the last midterm elections.

This "George Soros has a masterplan to  put his own SoS in every state so they can facilitate voter fraud and therefore Soros can control the country" theory belongs more to the CT forum than the Politics forum I think.
