Teenage Deadlifting
« on: November 18, 2010, 04:21:58 PM »
My son's best friend , who is the same age as my son 17, might be a natural for deadlifting as he pulled 400 with ZERO training.
He is serious about training for some teenage meets.
Can we have some help with a training routine?
He's about 175 pounds , 5'8" and probably 10 percent bodyfat not that that matters much for powerlifting.

How about you try a Sheiko routine.

Sheiko is high volume and moderate weights - perfect for a young lifter needing to perfect his form.

They all have different numbers, depending on the amount of work load.
Try the #37.

Another thing, and this is IMO pretty crucial, use really low maxes. Eg, if can pull 400 lbs in the deadlift, use perhaps 330 or 340.

In the assisting excersises, eg side raises, also use really really light weights - less than 50% of estimated 1RM.
