it doesn't change rapidly....bill gates has held it for 10 years...with a 3 month mulligan....


I'm not aware of exact facts on how Forbes (or any other organization for that matter) calculates their yearly ranking but I can assure you that top spot changes often.
Due to the fact that their fortunes mainly consist of exchange traded securities.

My business partner and I are smart, work hard, and surround ourselves with other smart, hard-working people. 

It could all be gone in a year, but it's been a helluva ride.

And if the well does run dry in 2012, it's nice to know we've each made solid investments and networked effectively during this run of good fortune.

There's a lot of luck in being able to capitalize on the timing that luck requires.  Sure, preparation met opportunity, but the timing of that opportunity coming along for us was pure luck, because neither of us believes that anyone's personal god is a life micro-manager.
