  This is a man who has actually convinced himself--yes, actually convinced himself--that his call for a boycott of France a few years ago not only cost that country billions of dollars, but may have even gotten Nicolas Sarkozy elected President of it. one of the problems is that people love to be entertained and their idea of being entertained is totally skewered  big time in regard to "entertainment news". o'reilly himself albeit only occassionally says his show is NOT news and just an opinion/his opinion and no one else's show that has news in it. the problem is people think what he says is true and his show is actually NEWS!

of course he's also a hypocrite to the 9th degree. he rails against celebrities and what not, and yet he was an anchor on the celebrity/tawdry, hard copy like show of "inside edition". if he truly felt this way, he would not have done this show, regardless if he had to make a living!

i will say in my own defense that i'm pretty proud of i don't actually watch o'reilly or olberman, besides the passing thru the channels moments. i tried to listen to each, to give each a chance, and couldn't do it, and that was a few years ago, that i knew that o'reilly was a douche and watching the videos just posted to this topic thread i see his "act" has got worse!

in the u.s. news is dead or been dying for years, real news and real facts that is! it's all about ratings and money always was but as the decades roll by, it's even more so. the dumbing of america and the fact that supposedly the majority of americans' dont' have the time, don't have the self control to truly watch a newscast that was just news, the fact that news when it does show real news is all about killing and bad stuff, thus the people again don't Want to watch depressing but true stuff and want to get away from it all and thus be entertained and if their news is entertaining, then and only then can they 'stomach" it.

on the otherhand, then you have communist/totalitarian governments who control the news and only show you want the government thinks you should know, which of course is usually lies and propaganda to support the government and control it's people! but at least it's not sickening entertainment filler crap for ratings either!

Me myself usually spend very little time digging up info on current events unless I find something in particular very fascinating. My own opinions(stances on various issues) come 99% from discussions with other people and reading books.

That's basic but you can't expect people to follow that shit so well, it's fucking hard there's a lot of information. The problem is with information that is flat out fucking false or nonsensical . They blatantly put social groups against eachother with hot button issues, like abortion or what not. When someone gets elected for basically dividing people.

The only true political issues that should ever be discussed are economic issues. Instead of pissing people off with non issues gun right abortion etc, they should only be allowed to talk about the economics.

 I disagree that it's hard to see through the BS disinformation. I can understand young people and kids not knowing what's up, and believing the lies from the TV.

 But when you have people who are like 25 years old and older, still lost in the false reality that the media has created for them. It's at the point that they are just being willfully ignorant, and obstinant about changing their mind.
