The treatment of Manning has been covered quite a bit in the media in spite of what Rattigan said and I think it's just been drowned outt by other stories that have breader interest and appeal to the mass media and the masses at large.

Crowleys job title was "Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs" and his job included, among other things, being the spokeperson for the State Department

Was his statement about Manning the official policy position of the US State Dept or his personal opinion ?

Given his departure I'm guessing it was not the official position of the State Department

Of course there's the possibility that Obama was born in Kenya - which only works to demonstrate the strength and resolve of this man, willing to fight through an unjust law (in this case, the 14th Amendment).

He loved America enough to overcome unjust laws, just as Rosa Parks did on that bus, just as Susan b. Anthony did in that voting booth.  Anyone who admires the accomplishments of women and minorities can clearly agree that they would have done the very same thing had they been in Barry's, ahem, Barrack's shoes.
