Should Fedor Retire?
« on: April 02, 2011, 03:22:50 AM »
This guy, who is one of the greatest MMA experts on the net, gives an interesting anlyses of Fedor as he stands in the year 2011. Apparently, the difference in weight between Fedor and Silva was not the 57 lbs I originally thought, but something like 65 lbs. That is a ridiculous weight difference. It is the difference between a lightweight and a light-heavyweight. And Fedor is so good he that he went 1-1 on 2 rounds and lost due to a doctor stoppage. I believe that, even past his prime, Fedor is probably still the best fighter on the planet under 250 lbs. Not pound-for-pound, but in the sense he could probably defeat all fighters under that weight. The only fighter under 250 lbs that would give him trouble iis Velasquez. Jones, for all his athleticism and agility, doesen't have the power to hang with Fedor in the stand-up.

He's not the same cold blooded killer he used to be, there's no doubt about that. Yes, he should retire.

Duno about retire. Some guys just like to fight and enjoy the competition. Its only the fans that put all this stupid 'if they lose a couple theyre done' shit on fighters. Not every fighter is doing it because of the fans, people need to get over that.If he wants to keep goin good on him, if he doesnt he still leaves a fantastic legacy for all the staticians...

True, but in Fedors case he has even stated himself he would like to retire. If he doesn't wanna fight, why stop him.
