I'd like to know why Benoit has refeeds since he claims he responds to carbs so poorly and has "poor insulin sensitivity".
i'll field this- for me i always thought i 'needed' a refeed- you know? for me its wanting the fullness carbs give- then last week instead of having a refeed, i just upped my fat intake dramatically. i didnt even count the cals. i just ate fats as i was hungry, keeping my meals the same, but just snacking on fats between.
by the end of the night i have never experienced such a feeling of fullness and vascularity- and i am NOT a vascular guy. i honestly felt like i had just finished a workout given the fullness i was experiencing. it is the best i have looked to date in 15+ years of training. this week after my carb refeed, i looked like shit for the next day or two. the only variable that changed that day i upped my fats was my fat intake itself, so the fullness i have to attributed to that.
i am starting to find, for myself, when you get down to lower bf levels i think you can fill out just as well using fats, and keep looking tight- actually better- unlike a carb up which leaves you watering over.
also while it is true the rapid weight loss from a keto diet is due to the bodies release of water as a result of carb restriction, it doesnt explain the weight loss someone who is already 5-6 weeks in a prep is experiencing running a keto diet.
now, i have no dog in this fight- i am NOT a keto diet advocate (mostly because i dont think there is one way of dieting that works the same for everyone) im just relaying what im finding is working best for me.
