That 'walking casually away from an explosion without looking back' scene had been entirely way overdone in every action movie of the last five years.
Every time I see it on the big screen I merely laugh and slap my head.
I've blown up (C-4) a few man made objects of various types in an effort to prevent the bad guys from reaching the good guys and have never had the opportunity to walk away from 'mass destruction' without seeking adequate cover or running as far and as fast as my ass would allow.
And once the debris settled down a bit, it's impossible to let safety measures overcome your curiosity or stiffel an attempt to see if it was a job well done or otherwise.
Anyone got a list of all the movies that included that fantasy scene? And in which movie was that scene first used?

Man Made Monster (1941) - mad scientist, lionel atwill, uses lon chaney jr. in his wicked experiments to create an electrical monster that only he can control. his ultimate aim is to create a race of electrical supermen... like you do !! this is a really enjoyable universal monster movie.

war of the worlds - 1953. - even though you can see the wires. this is still scifi at its very best dead silence - effectively spooky snakes on a plane - great fun. don't understand the negative criticism with this film. gladiator - on the telly with adverts and shitty picture (itv2). still awesome

We saw the re-release of Lord of the RIngs (the first one) and did not like it AGAIN even tough it was done exceptionally well and made millions.

(Horror of) Dracula (1958) - the great peter cushing and christopher lee in hammers first dracula movie. quite simply, brilliant ! didn't scare the absolute shit out of me like it (and other great hammer horrors) did when i was a kid. but still an awesome film to watch

Sucker Punch (2011) - completely enjoyed this despite not being of the target audience of young, male gaming geeks. the girls looked sexy and the action sequences were very good. rock music would have made it a whole lot better. 6/10
