Another good example of why prospects are prospects and, if known commodities are available for said prospects, it's probably safer to go after them. We all like to have guys from the farm system and root for them, but never at the expense of elite talent like Halladay, Haren, etc....

the other day johnny damon joined some pretty elite company, he's only the 11 th player to amass 2500 hits 500 doubles 100 triples and 200 homers. top of list are guys like babe ruth, willie mays, stan musial, lou gehrig, pretty elite company. that being said i doubt damon makes the hall of fame when his time is up.

You're probably right. But, if he gets to 3000 hits, he might have a shot.

joe mauer is owed 8 years including 2011 on his contract at 23 million dollars a year. the guy played 14 games this year with 11 hits and a 204 avg. twins are royally screwed.

I was arguing with Yankee fans about how I had no interest in them signing this guy, but they didn't want to hear it. Could go down as one of the worst contract, if he continues to be hurt.

just checked out justin morneau who is hurt again as usual. 4 hrs 225 ba 281 ob 338 slugging certainly well worth the 14 million they are paying him this year. he has 28 million coming in 2012 and also 2013. another good investment by the twins.

As long as he wasn't fielding. This is just baseball being baseball. Going to lose games you should win, and win games you should lose.

Absolutely. I think he could have easily been awarded a couple MVP titles if it weren't for the writers falling in love with the steroid fueled HRs. Look at his 1999 - crazy good.

Here's something you never hear about anymore in the national pastime, the pitcher's best friend - the ole' poopball.

Part of me wishes he would volunteer for the 9th spot. The lineup is supercharged with Gardner or Swisher in the leadoff spot.
