The old red and silver Adidas Ironwork weightlifting shoes for most gym work.

Asics Tigers for everything else for the last year or so, nice thin sneaks. I must admit, those NB Maxinus's look interesting.....

Running shoes are about the worse thing you could wear for lifting.  They are to soft and offer no lateral support.  Look for shot put "sneakers"  They are firm on the bottom.  If you are doing such things as power cleans and deep olympic squats then real olympic lifting shoes are the obvious choice. Someone mentioned skate board sneakers.  They are good choice for bodybuilding.  They are not soft like running shoes.

WOund up going with Nike Dual Fusion, light weight, and comfy as heck, light gray and blue sole
