So, I'm genuinely curious here, what's your perception of Europe and Europeans? As I understand, a lot of you haven't really travelled beyond US borders and seem to wean all your information from stereotypes and biased resources. Do you distinguish between certain parts of Europe, e.g North and West? Have you visit and if so where? What did you think of it? Do you have a desire to come and visit?
Let's hear your opinions.
Being affiliated with the military, I have lived overseas 21 of the last 26 years. The last 11 years have been in Europe. The thing I've learned is any place you go, you'll find good and bad folks...just like the good ole' US of A.
Holland - Without a doubt the nicest and coolest folks around. I literally did not meet a person who I couldn't befriend. I'd move back there tomorrow if I could.
Belgium - Not the friendliest folks in the world...except those living near the Point whereby German, Holland and Belgium come together. Never had any real problems...just never made any lasting friendships. Brussels is a great city to visit.
Germany - Good folks...for the most part. Most have a no sense of humor, but you can definitely count on them keeping their word...for the most part. Rules and regulations are king...until they decided to break them. But hey, you gotta love a place whereby you can pass a cop going 100 MPH and nothing happens!
Italy - I like the Italians, but no so fond of Italy. There are some really nice places to visit, but unfortunately, work always had me going to Naples. There were parts of Naples that reminded me of some of the worst parts of Africa. There is always garbage everywhere! Driving in Naples requires either skills or a "fuk it" attitude.
France - I cannot understand how they got the reputation of being rude. I've never experienced that...even when I try my butchered French. I also don't get the fascination with French food. Perhaps I'm just not refined enough.
England - Very friendly folks, but a dreary place. The constant rain doesn't help either. I absolutely adore the British accent. One gets 10 additional IQ points just for the accent! I do wish I could drive there just once without hitting the curbs.
These are the ones I spent a significant amount of time in. I didn't speak to the historical sites or the cool places to visit. They are aplenty.
