I'm not buying into any propaganda....I'm only going by his comments with my own personal experience in the military. There is a civilized way to get the job done and any soldier can refuse an order that is illegal or immoral. However, in basic training, they do "twist" the rules of combat to where this actually happens quite often. Basically they say its against the UCMJ but then they'll wink and smile at you.

In the military, you can't tie your shoelaces without being given an order to do so...especially the Marines, so I do believe that he was ordered to do all of that. He's a soldier but he's just a kid as well and kids are easily brainwashed...that's why they recruit right out of high school....because its easy to turn a kid into a machine of the United States Government. They shoot you full of stuff and they program you into a soldier.

That's why I say don't be hard on him.....the military is nothing like what they have in the brochures and TV commercials....he didn't do all of that just for the hell of it.

Just goes to prove that war is an ugly business. Always has been and always will be. My son-in-law is deploying to Afghanistan this fall. He has already done two tours in Iraq. I hate to see him go to the war front again. This shit changes folks sooner or later. If he's had any experiences like this fellow, he's keeping them to himself.
