Never seen those pics before - arms look small and the physique looks almost attainable considering he was a pro at the time. Wonder who the guy is spotting him?

They look to have been around 1990,thats Billy Payne training with him,Billy trained with Dorian when he competed in March 1990 when he qualified for the British champs.Good to see these pics,not seen them before.

Blood&guts was a joke, I laugh every time I see someone referring to Yates as the most hardcore bodybuilder ever. Because he did one set to failure and beyond? Big deal! Before him there were guys doing countless sets to failure and beyond. Or was it because there was a guy yelling at him, and he filmed his video in black&white? Or possibly the visualization techniques?

Of the current day pro's a Markus Rühl (to name just one) trains at least as hard and heavier as well.

Tom Platz did things when training legs that would make most guys puke. Very intense anaerobic exercise.

flex, dillet, vince taylor, etc were known for not being hardcore in the gym, yet they developed very impressive physiques

judges dont ask for gym report cards to see how hard you train, they judge on whats on a stage before them in a sparkly thong (no homo)

I've seen matarazzo clips where you wonder wtf, how did he grow training like that? all partial reps of isolation exercises done with poor form, little intensity..

Pretty much. Lol at people getting all indignant about training intensity, the whole sport is facilitated by huge drugs abuse. It doesnt matter how you train, it makes zero difference.
