When I get rich, one of my businesses will be a gym where you can't be a member unless you are assigned a trainer, and all trainers read the bible lol

Here's my home gym. Tires are kept on the side of the house. The other half of the equipment is kept at Rampages gym till we open our place.

I have another 800sqft space not open to the public. We will be securing investors within the next couple months for a 3500sqft retail space.

Man, you got this whole thing down. If I was still in California I'd be begging you to get me in with your biz. I'd even wash those tires (though I doubt I could lift them) and sweep up the chalk on the floor. Being able to work with athletes on all levels instead of with soccer moms and men going through a mid life crisis must very very fulfilling. I'm sick of sitting in a cubicle all day trying to sneak posts on GetBig.

You'd like me. I'm a rabid right wing Republican and unabashed Christian. I also work out every now and then, too. And you'll feel good about yourself knowing there's someone older than you. One that you can boss around.

I left also...

and then went back and used what I had learned from the mistakes. I still *care* ~ sometimes it is my downfall, but other times the success stories make it all worth while.

I'm sure a lot of the "older" trainers (besides me) laugh when we see the capitalization and sensationalism of "The biggest loser" ~ I mean, seriously, isn't this exactly what we've been doing all along? We watch our clients (maybe 1 in 20) make the commitment and then we stand by them regardless. After a while you can tell just by the first few words out of a potential client's mouth whether or not they are going to make any significant changes.
We just don't have the money or the T.V. reality shows and all the glamour. Don't get me wrong, a strong clientele in a good small gym can be extremely lucrative, especially once you've developed a rep for getting people in shape... and *caring*

Lets start a post with all the bullshit we have heard from people asking us about being trained.

1. I don't want to get big

2.Im "going" to start "next week after".........

It's the left-wing Republicans you have to look out for. Very sneaky.

Impressive setup. That machine which seems like an incline hammer press looks pretty cool.

I think I got why the old model for gyms doesn't work, it's because what they really want is for people to buy a membership and then never come, that's how they make money, so without meaning to that's what they accomplish. Most people regard gyms as a place to be seen, but they can be seen and admired just walking down the street, so why should they come to the gym, they don;t actually need it. I would make a gym where you can't come in without an appointment, and there's lots of stations, each station has a smith machien and two dumbells where you can change the weight so you only need 2... your trainer takes you to a station, goes through a workout with you, or tells you to go do x amount of cardio, and ur finished and u leave... that's the ideal gym imo

I agree...most of the people come to the gym to socialize...

Over the years how much do you think you've put into that whole set up? I so wish I had something like that. In fact, I think that's how you can tell if someone is really a true Iron Head. If they would be perfectly happy training by themselves in their home gym and not need the social environment and the endless parade of hotties to keep themselves interested.

I bought everything ''used'' on Craigslist ,I looked everyday for 2 years until I found good deals .

The yellow Powertec  and 300lbs of weight =$275
The Body Solid white machine  = $300
The  Para Body power rack , 300lbs of weight, dumbbell rack w/ dumbbells (10lbs -60 lbs) , bench, barbell, mirror and rubber mats = $600

I know what you are saying , my wife won't train in the garage , she needs the attention from the black dudes  , I only go with her on sunday morning, I get better workouts at home.
