BET's Robert Johnson To Obama: Stop Attacking The Wealthy
« on: October 03, 2011, 09:25:57 AM »
BET founder Robert Johnson on the "FOX News Sunday" program: "Well, I think the president has to recalibrate his message. You don't get people to like you by attacking them or demeaning their success. You know, I grew up in a family of 10 kids, first one to go to college, and I've earned my success. I've earned my right to fly private if I choose to do so.

"And by attacking me it is not going to convince me that I should take a bigger hit because I happen to be wealthy. You know, it is the old -- I think Ted and Fred and I we both sort of take the old Ethel Merman approach to life. I've tried poor and I tried rich and I like rich better. It doesn't mean that I am a bad guy.

"I didn't go in to business to create a public policy success for either party, Republican or Democrat. I went in business to create jobs and opportunity, create opportunity, create value for myself and my investors. And that's what the president should be praising, not demagoguing us simply because Warren Buffet says he pays more than his secretary. He should pay the secretary more and she will pay more."http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/02/bets_robert_johnson_to_obama_stop_attacking_the_wealthy.html

Once in awhile you will see a black public figure actually have some balls and talk about the wrongs of the democratic party/ obama. To bad more of them don't speak up.

Like the wealthy are gonna take any hits, or suffer monetarily.

Does it matter? They earned it. without them there would be less jobs.

Great message, but lets face it Obama isn't going to listen to him.  He's going to continue to pander to his voting base......just like Bush did......just like Clinton did, etc, etc...

the wealthy are not self made as some of their ego's would like to think.  They had all kinds of government support to help them get to where they were today.  Even the little things they do not think of.  This guy is delusional.  The rich are such a small portion of the population their voice doesn't matter.  Upping the tax rate to 39 percent when the economy thrived is only common sense.  The rich are just greedy, are they Christian too like you, read the Bible coach, what did it say about greed and the poor?

The Bible also says, "Thou shalt not covet", which is what whiny liberals/progressives do, showing their jealousy and envy towards those who've made it and thinking they're entitled to someone else's money just for breathing.

Shouldn't those rich guys be happy that there is someone who will rob their money and thus grant them permission into the kingdom of god?

Funny that the whiniest people about the rich are either working for them or complaining that they "can't find a job....." like someone should create one for them.....wonder who they think "creates" those jobs?

Does it matter? They earned it.

Some have. Some haven't. But that's irrelevant:

Quote
Only the man who does not need it, is fit to inherit wealth – the man who would make his own fortune no matter where he started. If an heir is equal to his money, it serves him; if not, it destroys him. But you look on and you cry that money corrupted him. Did it? Or did he corrupt his money? Do not envy a worthless heir; his wealth is not yours and you would have done no better with it. Do not think that it should have been distributed among you; loading the world with fifty parasites instead of one would not bring back the dead virtue which was the fortune. Money is a living power that dies without its root. Money will not serve that mind that cannot match it.

Shouldn't those rich guys be happy that there is someone who will rob their money and thus grant them permission into the kingdom of god?

Matt. 25:14-30 (Parable of the talents):

“14 “For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. 16 Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. 17 In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. 18 But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19 “Now after a long time the master of those slaves *came and *settled accounts with them. 20 The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

22 “Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

24 “And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’

26 “But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. 27 Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 28 Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

29 “For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 30 Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I'm sorry!! Where's the part, where the other two servants' money get JACKED and "redistributed" to the lazy servant, who buried his talent ($1,000, in silver, I believe) again?

In most instances it isn't that the wealthy are against paying more, it's that they're against being forced to hand over more money to a goverment that squanders it and spends it without any form of accountability/responsibility (re: the stimulus).

If your teenager came up to you and said, "give me $100", you would ask them what they were going to spend it on, and give input whether that is a good choice.  That is what the wealthy are asking for.....before they just hand over more money to Obama/Congress to waste, they want to know what the money is going to be used for.

Makes perfect sense.

So?  Nobody is born with the promise that somebody else is going to create them a job.  Either be happy with what you have or start your own business.  Nothing worse than having a lunch break with a bunch of douches who just complain that the owner is on vacation or out on the lake, while they make the money to allow them to do it.

I missed the rule that keeps rich liberals from giving more of their money to the government RIGHT NOW. Arriana Huffington (a progressive princess) got $315 million for dumping her blog onto AOL. How much of that is she "sacrificing" to help the poor and middle class via extra taxes again?

1) This guy is very credible because he is bashing obama.

2) when he endorsed obama in 2008, he was not credible.

In the cool republican standards, people are only credible on those days you agree with them :)

i bash repubs and dems equally as soulless pricks who serve in office only to keep their jobs and please their masters.

My beef is with people who freak out over little shit obama does - who completely defended all the bullshit bush did.
