LOL at Wall street protesters
« on: October 06, 2011, 08:46:45 AM »
What a bunch of idiots.  They are protesting yet have no idea the names or faces that run the banks.  While they are protesting Citi bank has added more fees to checking accounts, BofA has added fees to using your ATM card.

These bankers are probably on their yachts in the south of France while these protesters are protesting nothing and will acomplish nothing in the end.

yes they will, all people need to do is to close their accounts with them and move their money elsewhere, or out of banks all together, we do not need banks, they need us.

Yes, this is true. My family has a house in the Côte-D'Azur as well as several cassinos. I have met some American bankers and they are some of the most callous, condescending, arrogant pricks you'll ever meet. At least their bosses, the Arab sheiks, despite being just as arrogant, have some descency and probity. The bnakers have none.

You actually believe that the total banked $$ of these protesters would have an impact if they were withdrawn?

What are some of the alternatives that they could move their money to?

Just got back...

First off they arent even on Wall St.  ...they are at this little park a few blocks away.
Tons of news coverage is there...the main thing that hits you is that the 'protesters' look like they havent bathed in two weeks.... many of them just sit there or lay on the ground...there was this EPIC old man playing the flute while others were bangin drums, buckets and what not... I didnt feel compelled to take pics... alot of these hippies thought they were news worthy...but not really....There were some Conservative types arguing points back in forth with random hippies for CNN and MSNBC news cameras...it wasnt even entertaining..I would say that there were about 60-75 protesters at the time TOPS.. I suppose on the weekend that the number swells up or maybe this is the core group of losers that have no jobs and do this for now, I might swing by late at night and sell some nickle bags of weed but there is a heavy police presence so it might be risky..nevertheless I saw Occupy Wall Street and it was #failure....but long story short, I ended up walking over to this department store 'Century 21' and got a new hoodie.

Here too:

LONDON (Reuters) - British savers smashed a huge papier mache pig outside the Bank of England on Thursday in protest at the bank's decision to launch an asset-buying drive that they fear will boost inflation and erode their savings.

The Bank's decision to buy up a further 75 billion pounds of assets -known as "quantitative easing" to try to kickstart the stagnant economy would deal yet another blow to savers, according to supporters.

"This is the worst news we could have possibly hoped for -- it's appalling," co-founder of the campaign, Simon Rose, said. " they've run out of ideas and we're the ones who are going to get it in the neck."

Savers have already been squeezed by ultra-low interest rates and high inflation.
With interest rates at a record low of 0.5 percent, and inflation at 4.5 percent -- more than double the target, pensioners have been hit particularly hard, protesters said.

Sad protest, truly sad papier mache pig...

Protesters stage well-mannered sit-in
Campaigners at the central bank in Dublin, who were inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, are angry but decidedly polite

They may be filled with rage against the capitalist machine, but the demonstrators outside Ireland's central bank are a polite bunch of radicals.

The protesters are under strict instruction not to harass or even say a cross word to the bank officials filing past their camp each morning.

Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations in the US in the past month, the Occupy Dame Street protesters have been camped out in front of Ireland's central bank since Saturday.

But the activists stress that their protest is entirely peaceful.

They have appointed Sean Creagh, a business studies student from Deansgrange in the south of county Dublin, as their liaison with the Garda Síochána, the Irish police force.

Dressed in a high visibility yellow jacket, Creagh explains that the plan is to help the garda keep the peace at the camp.

The organisers have banned alcohol and drugs from it and will help the police to extract anyone breaking that rule.

"I have been talking to one of the local garda inspectors in the city who is in charge of policing the protests," Creagh said. "To be fair, the garda have been good because we have kept a clear dialogue with them.

"The idea is we want a peaceful protest and we don't want to cause any direct trouble.

"We have a policy of not hassling anyone going into work and have kept the walkway into the central bank open all the time."

Creagh explained why the movement has not targeted the headquarters of one of the main Irish banks which helped cause the country's fiscal crisis through reckless lending to property speculators.

He said: "You have got to remember that inside that [central bank] building there is a full-time official from the IMF who, unelected by anyone in Ireland, is actually running our country's economic policy.

"That person is in there carrying out the IMF's diktats to the Irish people. This is why we are here. It's the symbolism of that."

There are 20 two-person tents at the camp and about 60 protesters. There is also a covered area which houses a makeshift kitchen and food station.

David Johnson is a 38-year-old IT consultant who specialises in helping fledgling technology and computer startups.

He worked for a US multinational until he left to start his own business.

Johnson now spends up to 16 hours a day at the camp.

"I would not be your traditional student militant or even overtly political – I am in fact a business owner," he said.

"But I am here because I am disgusted at the way this country has been run for the benefit of the very, very rich.

"Like everyone else around, I was inspired by the Wall Street occupation movement.

"Yes we are angry. Yes we want radical change – but it is all very polite really."
