Its funny how you mention cars, when there are only 5or6 brands. Not a single company has broken into the car market in over 50 years. This is the fact of the open market. Again you can say what you want about so called liberals,

but must liberals aren't advocating communism, yes all conservatives pretty much rally around no government.

LMAOOOOOOOO

This post should be stickied and used as nominee for dumbest thing said on getbig.com for 2011.

So, in a successful open market, the cost of materials to build cars, the infrastructure required to manufacture them and the cost of employing a workforce to compete in the global market should be so cheap that 800 or 900 different car companies should exist?  ::)

If you really are this stupid, your IP adress should be tracked down and you should be euthanized for the good of humanity.

Mostly a bunch of drop outs, dopers, druggies, dirtbags, and deranged misfits more than anything.

A zoo exhibit is more interesting than these fools.   Mostly a bunch of morons camping out in tarps, garbage bags, and just hanging out.

The problem with Americans is they are so fucking brainwashed by the media, the political pundits, etc. that they have no clue what true capitalism and a free market really is.  Most corporations in America nowadays are antithetical to everything that capitalism and the free market stands for.........competition, transparency, etc.  Moreover, many Americans can't distinguish between a mega corporation and small business.  This is why conservatives like the teatards are such idiots.  They lump them all into the same category.  Half the reason we have high taxes in this country is because the corporations don't pay their fare share and the tax money we do pay goes to bailing them out.  So while the idiot right blames government for everything they fail to hold the other half of the problem accountable.  All Americans have to do is take a good cold hard look around them and see how anticapitalist and anti free market their country is.  We have become less of an ownership society and more of an employee based society.  All the capital is flowing into the hands of a few.  America is about property rights, owning land, etc.  Adam Smith and John Locke the capitalist visionaries never imagined capitalism in the hands of a few mega corporations.  They viewed America as a place where everyone had the opportunity to become a capitalist by owning their way of life and the income produced by productive property.  But again American idiots think capitalism = consumerism and because we have mcmansions, nice cars and apple Iphones we are "capitalists".  Meanwhile most Americans own little if any land, many don't own their houses, few own their cars and most don't even own their college education.  Everything is owned by the banks i.e. debt.  And as "ownership" dies off in the USA and everything increasingly is owned by a handful of families, people, and corporations.......so too does democracy and freedom.

.. if by pointing out that R&D can cost billions you were attempting to prove that corporations needed lower tax rates, or that they couldnt sustain an increase in tax rates, then your wrong.  companies are making record profits that far exceed what they will spend on future R&D. and even if they werent, while they are, it still woudlnt be an argument because the goal of government is not to facilitate the devlopment of technologies.. at this point were only further devaluing ourselves and lowering our stature as we increase tech capabilities.

 8 billion = several billion

those are numbers for the third quarter.
LMFAO and im sure thats what you were talking about...;)

what quarter did apple release their ipad 2?
