I think one thing about obama - he'd much prefer to KILL bad guys than capture them.

Bin laden would have given us a WEALTH - I'm talking 30 years - of terror intel after a few waterboardings.

If obama is content to leave that kind of brain matter on the bedroom walls, i'm guessing he would have dispatched of kadaffi the same way.

Or, to further make the point - those weren't "surrender!" bombs we were dropping on his homes and hideouts. Those were the "kill kadaffi" kinds.

I agree killing bin ladin was very stupid, with the info we could have gotten from him we could have ended the war on terror, but then you would not have being able to justify the military budget and spending and arm companies would not be very happy, less terror means less buying of weapons.

Lord only knows how many tasks we paid him to do around the world. He was on our payroll, officially then unofficially, until 98 when he blew up the USS COle.

Then, depending upon your CT, he was very useful on 911.

So yes, from a PR standpoint, kadaffi would have been just as damaging - 4 (?) decades of tit-for-tat with the US on things... he knew where all the bodies were buried. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have assets in his hometown making sure he didn't arrive in handcuffs.
