I can't wait for this movie! I'm a big Van Damme fan, and to hear that he is the main villain was awesome! He stated on his facebook that his final fight with Sly will be epic. Hell, he even has Scott Adkins as one of his henchmen.

the only thing that wasn't 80's about the movie was a couple of cgi shots. It had the action and the banter, the church scene with Arnie, Willis and Sly gave the audience big laughs.

That was the only movie I went see last year. The opening with "bunch of guys waving flashlights" is one of the stupidest I've ever seen. Remember laughing "what the f*** is this shit

". Afterwards it really made me feel stupid that I even had expectations.

I think the biggest surprise was that after the movie many seemed happy.

Didn't see it .... but I'll bet a dollar to a dough-nut that it had the scene where the group of bad-asses casually stroll away from a huge explosion without looking back.

That shot has been repeated and repeated and repeated and is utter bullshit.

In my action script ... they all get blown to smithereens in that first casual walk away scene and the rest of the story is flash-backs leading up to final final stupidity and immediate demise.

Any one see ARENA? Not a phanoinal movie by any means but the most enjoyable DVD movie I've watched this past year even though the ending was messed up a bit.

I think that Samual Jackson wasn't available to finish his final scene as written in the script .... so ir really didn't have an ending .... but damn good anyway!

In this one, I think you might find the "hero" to be very realistic .... and he don't walk away from no explosions .... casually or otherwise.

Give ARENA a try, TA, and don't casually walk away until the very end because it does have an interesting "twist". And it might be interesting to hear your comments on the SJ ending.

I will DEFINITELY check that out as I am a huge Samuel L. Jackson fan. In fact, last night after watching The Expendables, I chose to redeem myself and watch Black Snake Moan which has Samuel Jackson in it. I was very pleased. He deserves an Oscar at some point.

OK regarding your plan to watch ARENA, TA .... but fair warning ....

I think it is one of those films that went directly to DVD and SJ plays the evil dude in this one .... and does it well except for the obvious change in his evil personality at the end.

I guess what I enjoyed most about this movie is that the 'hero' didn't want to be a hero, but he had no choice in the matter.

I noticed the same in HIGH NOON and WELCOME TO HARD TIMES both of which I enjoyed .... while thoroughly dis-liking Arnold/Stallone type screenplays where they attempt to make the hero too damn brave, unbeatable, and over the top ... and too damn dumb to take cover when the blast occurs, or even a casual turn of the head to see if it was a job well done.

I want to see some real-life fear in a hero's face and actions! Not the ultimate bullshit these action heros display on the screen today.

Maybe even a shit-stain or two after a hard won battle.

Get ARENA and watch it, At least they got a part of reality right on screen.

Yea it was not a good movie, the best action movies were in 80's till mid 90's.

My favorites were the first 3 Rambo movies, predator 1 & 2, universal soldier, die hard 1 - 3, total recall, etc.

I havent really seen a good proper action movie since 1995

And BTW the new Rambo was crap too, can't compare to the old ones

08 rambo is my fav action movie ever. my only complaint was that rambo didn't rape the blonde missionary immediately after the final turret scene in a full graphic penetration scene!
