if it is just regular poster who enjoys spending time on online forums as a social outlet and has quite a few posts then stealing his name would be fucked up , to what degree depends on how far you went with it.. impersonating the poster and trashing their reputation on purpouse... or just using the handle cuz you like it and never really tyring to pass yourself off as the other poster and doing nothing to tarnish the reputation of said handle...

however stealing an ifbb pros username would be akin to impersonating a politician or a celebrity... totally fine.. they are "public figures" which opens them to ridicule and impersonation.. its the responsibility of forum owners/moderators and the pro themself to ensure no one is falsely representing another..

My solution to not having my handle used by others has been to register on multiple boards with it....even if I don't post on the board. However, there have been a couple of occasions when my handle was already taken. No big deal. I think my posting style is unique enough that folks can figure out if it is me posting or some impostor pretty easily.

Recently, a worm attacked one of my email accounts and sent Viagra adds out to everyone in the contact list on the server. What was interesting about this was that the worm was only on the server and not on any of my systems. I took down that contact list and changed my password. The email service provider claims no responsibility despite the same problem happening to a number of other folks using them.
