For what it's worth, I did read that it was during a night when Arnold was confining to Mildred about his lack of sex and Maria not being home much due to her being a news anchor back then. And they did kick back a few drinks which one thing lead to another. But if that's the case, and Mildred said they had sex just a few more times after that, let's hope Arnold was drunk every time!
