Joel Bennett said Thursday his client, Karen Kraushaar, spent several days reaching out to two women whose complaints about Cain’s past inappropriate behavior have been detailed—anonymously—in media accounts.

First, there are only two "settlements" or severance payments, depending on who you ask.

Second, Cain didn't give them anything. He wasn't even there when these women were released from NRA.

Third, even if these were harassment settlements, the average cost of defending a harassment suit (in the late 90s) was $250,000.

Fourth, with 67% of all cases in the late 90s going to the plaintiff (employee) and an average judgment payment of $300,000, why did these women collectively settle for a mere $80,000 (again, assuming these actually were sexual harassment settlements, and not severance packages)?

My guess is that they knew that, if they went to court, they would LOSE and be up to their eyeballs in legal fees. Ask Sharon Bialek (Cain's latest accuser) what that's all about.

So, even though you've done an investigation and found your CEO not guilty of what he stands accused, you're actually going to blow a quarter of a million dollars to verify that (knowing the odds are in your favor to win in court, anyway), instead of giving this woman (Kraushaar) $46K to just walk?

If Cain is the "monster" that Kraushaar claims he is, why does she need the anonymous women's help to talk to the press about him? Why not go it alone or with Bialek?

Her lawyer's been saying that she wants to talk for nearly two weeks. First, the NRA was in the way (they waived the confidentiality thing); now, the excuse is the other anonymous accusers won't come forth.

We all know what she thinks is "sexual harassment" (that joke about computers being like men or women). And Bialek's being picked apart, as her checkered past (coupled with her being seen schmoozing with Cain last month) is coming to light.

I joked about this earlier, before I posted this link a few days ago.

But, given Bialek's reputation for screwing her bosses (her 13-year-old son is the result of her affair with the CEO of a company where she worked; after his wife divorced him, he sued Bialek for joint custody of their kid and won), maybe it wasn't Cain making the moves on her but the other way around.

After all, she was reportedly with Cain, trying to get her job back.
