We are dog people but 13 years ago one of the kids found a 4 week old kitten laying in the gutter at a busy intersection.

We had to stop the car and some traffic  while he jumped out and retrieved that cat.

That happened 13 years ago on Christmas eve and FELICE has been with us ever since and gets along well with the dogs and two other stray cats that came in and never left (Sunny and Mercury).

Strange to say but these cats love dogs and have the freedom to mingle with them outside the house, but they always return before the coyotes come out at night. The dogs seem to know that the cats are not afraid of them so never appear to pose a threat.

Also strange to say is that Mercury (who is built like a young, muscular Jaguar) is afraid of birds.

We never could figure that one out.

To most people negative attitudes are not negative within their own minds.

I can recall some fellow workers accusing me of being negative because I refused to purchase prime real estate when the real estate market was soaring through the roof and you didn't even have to qualify to get a mortgage from any bank.

It appeared evident to me that what goes up must come down and it always comes DOWN 33 times faster than when it went up.

So my good and former positive friends are now the once proud owners of the 100,000 Las Vegas homes that are now in foreclosure.

I was positive that that was gonna happen, but somehow they mis-interpreted that.

Great point, but there are greater opportunities beyond that way of thinking. People commonly use positive thinking to be down right ignorant and wreckless, and at the same time believe there negativity is far superior by contrast. Because it always appears to be the more based on fact.

I.E. people love to quote points about how this and this will cause negative scenario B to occur. This is a limited way of thinking, because people rarely use facts to describe how something could have a positive outcome.

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "May be," the farmer replied. The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "May be," replied the old man. The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "May be," answered the farmer. The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. "May be," said the farmer.

KUL! Thanks ... I've never heard that one before and really enjoyed it and I am totally convinced that bad or adverse things happen in one's lifetime that lead to better things eventually.

Maybe I am a Taoist after all.
