If you're serious about this, go to logoarena.com and start a tournament.

For $300 you set a bounty, and a few basic parameters of what you want you logo to represent, and then designers all over the world will compete for the prize.  You can also have them tweak their designs that they submit.     I did it, and got about 50 or so entries in a week.   
 
Extremely cheap and very effective.
