And we're not far behind in terms of obesity 
This epidemic hasn't spread to the rest of Europe thank god.
My vacation in USA I couldn't believe what I saw. No one was walking or cycling anywhere. It was just overweight families driving around in giant Cars, ridiculously oversized food portions and fat people riding on "disability scooters".
People usually do their walking/cycling/jogging in the early morning or the afternoon.
Where my folks live, there are tons of mothers with their carts with kids and they jog with them. Go to the local gyms and you'll have to fight the women to get on the cardio machines---so much so that they have time limits.
But, I do agree with your other points.
