Verkoshansky: Block Training System in Endurance Running
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:51:47 PM »
Very good book, can be applied easily to any middle distance endurance sport whether it be running, swimming, cycling, rowing etc
As a cyclist I got good "mileage" out of it

What are your thoughts on block training and how do you use it in your endurance training?

I like block training a lot, I use it in my strength training and when I am preparing for an event
I did the basic accumulation, intensification, realisation structure for cycling, did a lot of "volume" I guess is a good way of putting it then taped it down and added a lot of interval training for the intensification period. End of realisation was the race and I'd bring up the volume slightly and only do one interval session a week and start practising contest length (for me 10-25km sprints)
