it took me years to decide i wanted to quit benzos. but once i told myself you're quitting this shit i stuck with it. I just ignored my body, suck up the sweats, if i felt tired i rested, if i didn't sleep i just read or listen some music...and i've been clean since jan 6.

do you really want to quit it?

Lol, trust me. I'm not that far yet.  Like I said I can quit for days on end with no symtoms, but I know how tendencies can run in the family.  I have been drinking for less than a year(with breaks in between) but Im smart enough to know that this can turn serious.

and of course you are jober enough to sudge

but why Vodka - that a womans drink (because some believe it leaves no taste or smell in the mouth)

had you considered Alanon (for those affected by other peoples drinking)?

Most drunks are very smart........just a bad habit that doesn`t discriminate.........cop s,lawyers, doctors, cooks,Indian chiefs........all can be drunks.

If you think you have a problem, call AA.......I wasted lots of time trying to quit using my methods which worked, but only for varying amounts of time.
Did you ever have huge cravings as you got close to your local liquor store.  I Have to pass by it everyday, and thats where the little guy on my shoulder says: "Don't worry just have a couple you will feel good!"

Never got cravings much, because I usually stayed in a drunken stupor.  Cheesy

when I would try to detox myself,is when I felt like I needed a drink the most.........fucking shakes and just a terrible feeling in general.

If I took that drink to make myself feel better, all bets were off.

I did not have an 'Off' button.

Thats the problem.  I don't feel any side effects aside from some cravings.  If I were a true alcoholic, I would have some crazy withdrawls even after a day without booze.

if you can't control the mind, control the body: cut the access to alcohol and you won't be able to drink.
I had a friend of mine who quit cocaine this way.

A hard thing for me to do was to stop hanging out with my drinking and druggie friends...........I like them all, good peeps but they were about as fucked up as I was.

I knew I`d never get sober unless I cut myself loose from the crowd and thought for myself.

Hung out with lots of people for many years, but after I sobered up,I realized that about the only thing I knew about most of them was what they liked to drink, and what drugs they liked.

Some don't, but you are playing that game about quitting right now to re-assure yourself. The routine and social aspects are as, or more powerful factor for the casual drinker. I'm not talking about the vodka for breakfast folks here....more like the "have to drink a beer with your last meal of the day" types.

If you are drinking a half bottle of cheap vodka a day you have an issue.....everyone has a certain level they consider a problem though. A couple beers every night after work and a night at the bar on the weekend would be a lot for some people. Some would consider that nothing. Easy to work up to a certain level and still function fine.

When you get your ass handed to you at a bar and don't know what the reason was, or get an OMVI - you will know.

Addiction is toughest war to fight...take it one day at a time, set up small goals for yourself...telling yourself to "never drink/do drugs again" can be abit to much...to be sober one day is a better starting point. The longer you stay sober the better your chances will be to stay sober as well. Beneficial for the few first 3 days , if you are a alcohol only type of addict - would be to switch to 3 x 10 mg diazepam for 3 then drop it. Some people will do fine with bud too...but itīs very important not to switch one addiction to another. Bud makes you way more high than a few bensos... This is also how they treat it in psychiatry. If you have been drinking for years and years on you can die from alcohol withdrawal seizures. Bensos will fight that and calm you down... It takes some hardcore drinking for those seizures though.
