try it .. if monster calfes were just about monster weights then a lot more guys would have big calfes,,,this is not the case. I think the lower legs are better trained with high reps. I once saw an old guy on a bike..he was not into training but you could see from thousands of reps cycling his calfes  were...HUGE. Of course guys like the great Reg Park used massive weights on his calf training and had massive lower legs but he was one of the great men of Britain ;)

lol yea i have pretty good calves, so ive been told. but never did much free weight with them, gonna give it a go

tip toes, bottom of sled on the leg press or leg press machine

Straight leg calf movements are the most important as they work the upper part of the calf, but its worth doing a bent leg movement as well to work the lower calf.

Sitting in a leg press machine working the calf.  It feels almost like a donkey calf raise minus the weird looks in the weight room.

I prefer to do them from the legpress nice and heavy as with that machine i can get a much better extension
