It just amazes me at the money, time and effort spent in hosting these games (which lead to Greece's downfall) to being in them. Who the fuck cares? So what your country won 5 gold medals. Who really cares 1 week after the games are done? That China thread that shows kids from 3 years old being trained to be in the Olympics is just moronic. What does China really get out of it? For all the money they put in what is the actual payoff? A medal? They would be better off training these minds to do something that will make the country better than just having someone capable of doing a triple flip into water without making a splash.

Do anyone of you cares really care about the Olympics when the Olympics are not actually on?

Maybe it's just you growing up?

My little town part had it's own olympic wrestler when I was little. Lived very close to us. Don't remember his name and don't care. To me it's funny when someone says that a big athlete lives in the same (huge) city as them, or in the next town. I think it only matters if you are neighbours or something.

Lots of people care man. You gotta think worldwide. For many countries some of these sports are what they take pride in and to have an opportunity to showcase your nations talet as the best in the world at something is a major accomplishment.

I find it ironic that a thread could start out bashing a sporting event thats watched worldwide on a board that is made for a small cult sport that the majority of the world could really care less about.

Do not care one iota. Even when it is on TV I do not care. When they have an event with muscled men in thongs who sport shredded glutes and who offer private training & private posing sessions on the side, then I'll start to care.

Seriously, I suppose it’s nice to carry on the tradition, but why does it have to tour the world in new host cities every few years . . . and cost the host city so many millions of dollars? I'll pass.

I can tolerate watching track & field (though they never seem to show shot putters anymore), swimming (men and women), synchronized swimming, gymnastics (men and women) and weightlifting (men). Not much else.
