A Hatfield/Yoke/Safety Squat bar, when utilized with handles, allows you to use your arms when squatting.
Quite literally, my friend (who competed at USAPL Nationals) would tell me that his lats would get sore from squats. I told him he was obviously using the handles for far more than balance.
