I always have fun on vacation in South Carolina. All jokes aside the poverty in both North and South Carolina is incredible in so many places. The houses are cheap and the real estate tax is next to nothing. I pay 8K a year on property taxes and a coworker pays 17K a year on his house. Car insurance here in for two cars is close to 3K for full good coverage and down south it's next to nothing. My full health care insurance in NJ cost 10K and in the south the same coverage is next to nothing.

If I had to pick it would be Raleigh. I'm not an expert and have only been to both places a handful of times on business. I wouldn't go as far to say either of these places had many rednecks and country people with southern accents.
