Actually, it was when Malcolm stopped his "hate whitey" rhetoric, after going to Mecca (and other things) and Farrakhan was a young firebrand---he started in on Malcolm. Adding fire to the schism that Malcolm had kinda started in the NOI---Malcolm it's greatest prodigy/spokesman, didn't want to be part of it anymore.

Every Sunday, Farrakhan's "sermon" is broadcast around 11:30pm here in Maryland via 88.9
he chastises a lot of black folk as well, from the drug dealer to the politician, from the dude with the Big Rims to the woman of loose morals...
And I am not defending him, he has said a lot of things about Jews, whites, Asians, etc.

I think Farrakhan says a lot of things tongue in cheek, to elicit a response, to play up certain aspects of his "persona". Again, he serves a purpose, many times it's to divert attention. He's been at this game a very long time, far longer than many so called "hate mongers". He has been very critical on how Obama handled the Libya situation. Probably is fiercest critic by far, now could this because Ghaddafi gave the NOI a 5 million dollar loan for a building, to which the NOI paid back in kind? Or did he see the Libya situation as the US overstepping it's bounds?

And yes, I agree with you on how Spike didn't touch on this in the movie.

Also, there was this documentary done on Malcolm X on PBS, there was this guy who was part of NOI and knew Malcolm, but as soon as Malcolm back away from "blame whitey", he had disdain for Malcolm

She didn't do any time.

I don't. I think he believes everything he says and means it. especially when he said this about Malcolm Was Malcolm your traitor or ours? And if we dealt with him like a nation deals with a traitor, what the hell business is it of yours? A nation has to be able to deal with traitors and cutthroats and turncoats.

That's what NOI teaches. I liked Malcolm because he thought for himself , he came to his own conclusions about life and accepted when he was wrong and tried to make amends for it. Unlike these NOI puppets who just follow whatever the honorable minster had to say

^I knew (unfortunately qouting on an iPhone is too time consuming) a NOI member in college, he was from DC, woke me up to go to the Million Man March, so I went...he was decent up to the point where I got lost on the Mall (and also trying to be all "no cursing in front of women" and chatising me for it)...

Oh, and then there was the time I was walking alone at night on campus, and I was accosted by a man dressed in all black with a mask on, and he pulled up his shirt like he was going to rob me, turned out he was playing a joke...this was after someone was killed on campus during a robbery.

But, I have known some other good hearted NOI members.
The guy in the documentary was one of those old school guys, that believed all the rhetoric that was spewed forth.
And I've listened to the YouTube vids of Malcolm dogging Martin...and even he saw that he was wrong.
Farrakhan has even said that his rhetoric at the time fanned the flames against Malcolm and I think he said he was sorry for it.
