If this is true, he did it to himself, he was apparently told not continue on the same path (competing, using roids, etc) by his doctor.
Yeah, I was about about to say... Didn't he have some sort of Heart Issue or something a couple of years back where he was told to give up the juice and all that shit? Although this seems to be different... I feel for the guy and hope that it's not permanent.

boybuiling is a safe and healthy sport. once you go over 165 pounds bodyweight, however, it's nonstop russian roulette.

Dissected aortic aneurysm can be caused by many things (usually other medical problems), but most likely not squatting or anything bodybuilding related. I once saw a Mexican with a dissected aortic aneurysm. He had just polished off some breakfast tacos, and got in his van to go to work. He didn't get much further. Took an amberlamps ride to the ER, and died shortly after. This guy i worked with years ago was in good health and was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper and it happen to him. He was lucky enough to have a wife as a nurse and she knew exactly what to do and he lived. Pretty nasty surgery though.

He and I shared a cab once and later a few drinks. I think we must've been staying at the same hotel. He seemed very quiet and reserved. His wife was quite to opposite ~ outgoing and very social. I wish them the best.

He doesn't deserve to be alive, he doesn't appreciate life. Suicide by injection, AAS, injection.

This is heartbreaking! I hope he has a supportive family and/or a loving significant other who will stand by him in the years ahead. Going from physically active (bodybuilding) to paralysis must be a nightmare!
