Well you know, I just recently bought a new system/tower and I thought I might as well be ready for the next generation of graphics so I went all out.

I'm averaging 85-110fps on all Ultra settings(depending on the amount of players), 1080p res, 2x AA on a 120Hz screen. It's fucking great haha. The 120 Hz REALLY does make a huge difference.
BF3 really is a cut above everything else right now, at least graphics wise. I run 1080p on a 32" LG LCD with the settings maxed, and it still blows me away how great it looks.
The attention to detail, (especially the sounds, the weapons, the vehicles, the explosions, all just sound so right), make it quite possibly my favorite MP game of all time. The campaign wasn't great, but the MP is outstanding.

Its very immersive.

I play both on PC and Xbox...

Xbox more so for co-op games with my friends!

Anyways, I'm shocked you were able to decipher just by those two vague specs that my PC sucks....  you must be playing on an awesome supercomputer!  We should all be as awesome as you!

:-)

No, I'm not on an awesome supercomputer; and giving your specs as "Core i7 and NVIDA" means you're a clueless derp.

So yeah go play Halo on your Xbox, derp derp derp ;D

Shockwave, you can probably tell by now that I'm a COD fan over the battlefield series.  I have not played bf3 because my only experience with bf was that futuristic one, battlefield 2142 I think it was called, I have that and thought it absolutely sucked!  Should I give the franchise a second chance or are they all like that futuristic one?

Dude BF3, hands down, is the best fucking MP game I've ever played. Play it on a above average gaming computer and it's an experience that blows MW2-3 right out of the water.

BF2142 is regarded as one of the worst BF's ever.
BF3 is up there. Purists will argue that BF1 or 2 was better, but for me, the combination of graphics, sound, and gameplay is unmatched. It is hands down the most immersive FPS i've ever played.

The explosions sounds and look real. Bullets pinging of things, rounds snapping as they go by your head, choppers wheeling overhead, and it looks REAL.

The gameplay itself is solid, by far better than CoD IMHO.

This is coming from someone who was a far bigger fan of CoD than BF. Started playing CoD 2. After MW1, things went progressively downhill. I cant even play CoD anymore, feel's too arcadey.

Just to soothe your curiosity, here is my set up, its a bit unorthodox, but it gets the job done - no problems running Crysis 2:

Sony Vaio gaming Laptop (17" but I don't use that screen) - connected to a 32" 1080p LG LCD screen, 120Hz refresh rate, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and a wired microsoft game controller!

6 GB Ram
Intel Quad Core, Core i7 Processor, (1.73Ghz - nothing spectacular there)
NVIDA GeForce GT 425M
600 GB Hard Drive
Blu Ray Player (not that it will matter for gaming)

Feel better now?

My point wasn't to list off specs, its to prove that I actually have a PC thats somewhat capable of playing games ass wipe!

BF3 on this would probably suck.
It really gets special on Ultra - and Im not sure that chipset would handle BF3 on Ultra.
Nothing like combat on a huge 64 player map though. BF3 can be as fast paced or as slow paced as you feel like, there are so many game modes and map sizes that its ridiculous.

But its really a PC game. Everyone I know that plays it on console vs a PC says the same thing - PC all day long.

I have both and I'm not even gonna deny that...  I have older games that look better on my LAPTOP than newer games do on my Xbox!

As I said though I got my Xbox more for the multiplayer element since many of my friends are on that console as well!

I'm guessing Ultra is the highest setting for BF3....

Playing Crysis 2 (Another graphics-intensive EA game :-D) on my PC, I'm able to run it very well without any problems on about medium settings.
But when I max out all the graphics, I start to see a lot of lag and just gets really annoying!

That's hardly the point... my point is you've got a console approach to games. Shitty graphics, linear gameplay. No wonder you've mentioned Crysis 2, you probably haven't played the original (which was PC-exclusive) and don't know that the sequel was a massive disappointment because they dumbed it down for console derps like you.

With your monolithic laptop you won't be able to enjoy 50% of what a modern gaming experience is supposed to be.

The LG 32" has a resolution of 1366 x 768, that's from 2002 FFS! That monitor is not for playing games, it's for watching tv you noob!

BF3 gets really video intensive on Ultra (highest setting), especially during MP. The maps are so huge, there is so much to render, not to mention much of the map is destructible.

Crysis 2 on max setting and resolution on a 120 Hz with 3d glasses on is probably the best graphics experience I've ever had.

Alright homeboy... there is no denying your PC specs are awesome....

Yes I never played the first crysis, and I am fully aware it was one of the most demanding games ever for PC only....

But I think saying Crysis 2 graphics are dumbed down on PC... thats absolute bullshit!  Total understatement!  Max out the graphics on that and you will see that it looks fucking awesome!  Just because it was ported over to console doesn't mean they dumbed down the PC graphics, at least not to the extent you are talking about!

And what the fuck are you talking about 768 resolution for my screen???  my ass!  1920X1080  Here is your proof!   You gonna try to tell me about my own specs dude?? wtf???

Like I said, you're a console derp, why do you keep protesting? There's nothing wrong with that and I am fully aware that not everybody can or is willing to spend top money on a computer rig ;)

Haha, you're so funny pal, the more you write the more you bury yourself.

When Crysis 2 was first released it was derided as console port by just about everybody and graphics were only half of the problem (it didn't support DX11 at the time). The other half was the gameplay aspect, they pretty much removed 90% of the sandbox experience of the first one (which you know nohting about apparently) and dumbed down the AI quite radically just so the game could be handled by the piss poor console specs.

And in any case, why are you talking about maxed graphics? With DX11 on (and all its marvelous features like tesselation) your stone-age laptop could only play it at low settings with *maybe* 30fps.

I think you bit more than you can chew here, pal  :-\

Hardcore, the private room thing sounds a little weird

"A man known only as Chuang has reportedly died after playing Diablo III for 40 hours without taking a single break. According to reports, he booked himself into a private room in an internet cafe at lunchtime on Friday and settled himself in for nearly two days of non-stop gaming with no food or sleep.

Chuang was left alone in that time, with an employee of the cafe only coming in on the Sunday morning to check on him, where she found him resting on the table. Chuang then woke up, took a few steps and collapsed. He was taken to hospital, but died shortly after his arrival.

Blizzard released a statement following Chuang's death:

"We're saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We don't feel it would be appropriate for us to comment further without knowing all of the circumstances involved.

"While we recognise that it's ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine playing habits, we feel that moderation is clearly important, and that a person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment."

The cause of death has yet to be determined, but authorities suspect that, after spending such a long time seated, Chuang suffered cardiovascular problems or a fatal blood clot.

Earlier this year, another Taiwanese person was found dead in an internet cafe after reportedly playing League of Legends for 23 hours straight."

Its not the best one by far, but I was on a budget. It has all the same specs (or better) as the comparable Samsung 27" gaming monitor, and I got a steal on it as my wife was working at best buy at the time.

Fair enough, although I have trouble believing a TV can measure up to a monitor. However, it may be possible, I just haven't looked into it.
