I have as much insight as anyone else here that's only going by Fortress' posts

What I've personally gathered from them, is that Bob Kennedy liked and lent the young upstart (then) Gardner a hand, by letting him advertise and market his new products in the magazine and the musclemag stores, and when he hit payday, instead of reciprocating, and showing gratitude for the extended helping hand, he proceeded to bite the arm off.
The problem with this is - MMI used to voice disdain against this type of advertising - Zulak used to slam it in his "Truth" articles and then turned around and pushed this junk any chance he could get and I have an interview with Bob also saying these companies are all charlatans .

This is no way a slight at Mr Kennedy who I think is still the most honorable person in this industry, even in his passing - but they sold the fuck out for $$$

It was obvious for all to see MT eventually "owned" the mag, especially with the Zulak uncensored  Q&A, where every answer was take a muscletech supplement. It took away from integrity of MMI, and made it just like the rest.

Also kovacs getting more exposure than any other bber ever, along with other MT advertorials

My point, is Kennedy wouldve probaly wished to avoid that, but gardiner had control of cash, didn't mind destroying the last good magazine around
