Yeah, I gotta chime in on this one. I spoke to Haley on the phone last year about this, and you could seriously hear the pain in his voice. Angelo was like a brother to him. They did everything together. He was holding the gun, and by a fraction of a pound, it did go off. He rain upstairs, and Angelo died in his arms. His best friend bled to death in his arms because of his stupid mistake.
Seriously, he was in tears telling me the story, and I wanted to cry hearing the pain in his voice. Marcus is tortured every day by what happens. I"m not defending drinking or poor gun safety - but the guy is by no means a bad person. Hearing him on the phone was so sad - he knows he killed his best friend, his brother. ANd he wanted badly to attend services, and was told not to.
I like to rag on pros as much as the next guy. But in this case, Haley carries the weight of his mistake on his shoulder every day of his life. I pity him. It's a horrible tragedy what happened to Angelo, and it was careless, no one isn't saying it wasn't. But Haley does suffer tremendously for it.
i pray he goes to AA

240 and his sympathy BS. Yeah, it's a tragedy, but when you mix alcohol, drugs, and guns how can you logically think NOTHING is gonna happen? 240, what happens when you mix ammonium nitrate and nitromethane? EXACTLY!

You know what, that's fine and dandy. I get that. I really do. But I'm sorry, he shouldn't gotten some sort of punishment. Something. Anything. And don't tell me the 'accidentally' killing of this guy was punishment enough. You seem to forget Angelo's mother suffered tremendously too. More so than Marcus, I'm sure.

wow, had no idea about this whole incident. Heavy shit.
On another note, Marcus looks pretty good, somewhere between 12-15 at the O.

No doubt about it...

I agree 100%. Marcus ain't "suffering". How can you suffer when you won your pro card, got sponsorship and is now competing in the O?!? Yeah, he's suffering alright. It's funny cuz 240 once brought this situation to light and now he's all sympathetic.

Its funny how some of these guys post "progress" pics or updates. Realistically Marcus has not changed significantly since 2nd place at the 2002 USA. His presentation and polish have improved tremendously but his physique is pretty much the same. Not Olympia caliber.

I'm sure if Anthony's mother thought there was a chance Marcus would ever have any assets, she would have sued him for wrongful death. As it was, no attorney would take the case because Marcus must have had no insurance policies (homeowner's or otherwise) that would have provided some level of compensation for the grieving mother.

This is not a meaningful life! Practicing law, drinking scotch at nine o'clock in the morning. Nine o'clock scotch is meaningful, but practicing law, making money, settling petty disputes...

I know this is probably a dead topic but I've got to speak up on this. Mr. 240 is Back, I am going to have to call your bluff on this. You spoke to him about this incident? He was in tears? Funny because he stood up Angelo's mother on a day they were supposed to meet. All she wanted was closure. I can tell you for sure Angelo did not die in his arms and there was no running upstairs. Everything IS on video and YES I've seen it! Like a brother? If someone who was like your brother was shot by your carelessness, tell me what you would do? Abandon him? Not even send a card? Flowers? NOTHING to the family offering your condolences? Is this what a person would do who carries the weight on his shoulders. The only weight he's carrying on his shoulders is a barbell and some 45# plates. In my opinion, and in the actions he shown, he could care less what happened. He suffers my ass. A man who suffers doesn't act the way he has with the family, arguing with them, and passing indirect threats. Don't even speak that Marcus was a best friend to Angelo! That sentence couldn't be further from the truth. He's a coward, a fake. Don't give me the bullshit he was told to stay away from the burial, etc. There are many other ways to pay respect. Something Marcus knows nothing of...RESPECT! All the stuff he posts about it, his sorrow is fake and a show so the people will pity him and say "oh Marcus, we know it was an accident". It was, but at what cost does this accident go unpunished...at what cost could he not even offer an apology to the family, to the grieving mother who already lost a husband and now buried her only son. Marcus Haley killed her son, and ruined the lives of the family...The Caviasca name died in 2002 when Angelo was buried as he was the only male left to carry the name. Sometimes the actions or lack of can do more harm than good. You don't know the suffering that family has endured these past 11 years knowing the man who shot their son, brother walked free when clearing it was evident his carelessness caused the gun to go off. You don't wave a gun around and point it to the floor and say "oops, it went off". Because that is what happened. He picked it up, waved it around like a hot shot, and as he pointed it down pretending to shoot, he shot it through the floor. Who knows the real reason he was never prosecuted. Angelo's successful life was cut short. We will never know what could have been. If any of you out there think it's cool to play with a gun, think again. There's nothing fun about watching someone die. You would think Marcus would do something positive with this and teach kids gun safety.. but again his lack of human regard just shows how selfish he truly is. Thank you for reading.
