Our city has extensive resources for the homeless if they want help. Many would rather work the street corners than abide by the rules of the shelters which is to not be falling down drunk and be in before 10pm. So I give whether I want to or not through city programs. But no... not ever on the street... why would I encourage such behavior?

No I don't. Nor do I feed bears or deer at national parks. Last time I had an encounter with a bum I was going to the store as I was doing a painting project dressed in old shitty clothes. He asked me for money. I said what the fuck are you doing over here I'm working this side of the street. No shit as I got into my car I saw him on the other side of the street. lol.

Not typically.

There is a homeless man that I see regularly outside of one of the buildings where I work.  Due to a local board I sit on, he recognizes me.  I know he is a stone alcoholic with a family that would take him in, but he WANTS to live on the streets.

With that being said, I buy him Chinese food or a sandwich from the deli on the regular, because he is an awfully nice guy, if a bit unstable.

I do not feel it wise to give money to homeless individuals who are asking for bus fare (they never go anywhere), money for food (they don't use the money for food), money for medical expenses (the local hospital has charity care).  

I do not want them to spend money on drugs/alcohol, so I buy the one man that I regularly see food that he likes.  When the people at the Chinese food see me, they even ask me "Are you ordering for you for for .......?" because they know what we both eat.
