Idiots, all of you. By far the best athlete ever is Brian Bosworth. Bosworth career as an Actor never took off, but he had potential to be a good action star.....the "Stone Cold" flick was pretty good I think

Bo and Prime are those once every LIFETIME type guys. You got those once every few decade type guys in running back a lot like LT, Earl Campbell, Walter Payton, and such. Groink is right about the game being beyond what people understand. The level of strength and explosion in the athletes is so insane..and not to mention the constant head tramau.... Even the BEST college players, cannot all hack it in the pros because they are not on that level..think about it. All the ones who were supposed to be insane athletes and amazing players..BUST. And not just the idiots like Jamarcus Russell, I mean the guys who really try MDN

Wearing all that padding in case they hurt themselves, load of big girls blouses the lot of them. Put them in a game of rugby and watch them melt. Watch some of the rugby tear up's on you tube it might change your mind.
Haloti Ngata played rugby and was an animal. Now he's the best d tackle in the league. See which career path he took.

Scored an NFL touchdown and hit a MLB homerun the same week. Saw him live break a bat over his thigh and another one on his head

I think Bos gets too much crap for this but how many linebackers would have went straight up with Bo and actually drove him back? 99.9% of the NFL would've got trucked on that play.
you make a cut and plow into a guy adjusting to the cut makes it easy to plow over an unbalanced opponent.

The pads and helmet deliver a bigger hit then without pads You should head over to a local college football practice in america and get in a bull ring and then u can come hear and speak from experience I have played tackle football on the street and full pads , u can't compare the 2 , full speed pads can knock I out or deliver a nasty concussion

Boner Jackson was a thing of visceral beauty to watch, amazing physical specimen with elite athletic prowess. Hall of fame running back and all star power hitter (amazing outfielder, CANNON arm) in one human being
If there i one athlete i feel sorry for it's Bo Jackson, cut down in the absolute prime of a one in a million career. that must have really sucked. almost as tragic as Dorian tearing a bicep
Deoin Sanders was similar, but he was a DB/ contact hitter, didn't have near the explosive power Bo had.
ya Ive been watching videos/highlights of him on youtube the past hour.... Wish I was around to watch him in his prime. dude was a fucken freak

Wearing the protective gear makes it more dangerous. When an NFL safety comes in on a defenseless receiver and decides to go helmet to helmet, it's lights out time. A rugby helmet doesn't lend itself to this kind of reckless abandon.
The old American football/rugby debate comes up too often on here. I played rugby, it's a tough game, but go al out like you can with a helmet and padding and your next destination is gonna be the spinal ward/brain injury ward/6 feet under. I regret never playing american football. WOuld have love to strap on all that shit and freight train some fucker. Not being a yank, I didn't know who Bo Jackson was as a kid except from his inclusion in this
