Tuesday - hams

Weight 208

Note: I didn't work calves because I was short on time.

Lying leg curls, 4X14-8 @ 57-87 Lbs.
Seated leg curls, 4X15-8 @ 80-110
Reverse hack squats, 4X12-8 @ 90-360 added weight
Alternating machine kickbacks, 3X15-10 @ 45-125 each leg

I was in and out of the gym in less than an hour.

Today I saw the doctor about my knee. He suggested I get an MRI to see what exactly is going on with it. He noted that I cannot completely lock my right knee out. It is his suspicion that this is a problem with my meniscus. Generally this means surgery to repair it. Oh joy!  Roll Eyes I told him I was still working out with weights and that doing so actually relieved the pain momentarily. He didn't respond....I suspect he thinks I am crazy.

I did my warm ups for power cleans and jerks. 1x3 155, 1 x 3 160, 1 x3 165.  Then I loaded the bar for my first set and said to myself I'm not feeling it and left the gym. Drove to the liquor store and bought some beer.  Sometimes you have to know when rest is a better option.

Wednesday - back:

Weight 208

Hammer lat pulldowns, 6X15-8 @ 140-260 lbs.
Hammer rows, 4X12-6 @ 120-150
Nebula low rows, 3X12-8 @ 140-200
Reverse grip pulldowns, 3X12-8 @ 130-160
Nautilus front pulldowns, 3X15-10 @ 104-131
Nautilus rowing back, 3X16-12 @ 70-110

Back felt pretty good.

Thursday - shoulders and abs:

Weight 209

Hammer seated front press, 5X15-8 @ 90 to 170 lbs.
Standing dumbbell side laterals, 5X15-8 @ 10-17.5 ea side
Bodymasters rear delts, 4X15-8 @ 50-80
ISO shrugs, 4X15-8 @ 90-230
Cable upright rows, 3X12 @ 77-91
Nautilus crunches, 2X25 @ 80-90
Nautilus back raises, 2X25 @ 80-90

Didn't do leg raises or Nautilus rotary torso because I pooped out.

-MRI went well on my knee. It took about an hour. I have a copy of the pictures which mean nothing to me, since I am not experienced at reading an MRI. If what I am looking at is what I think I am looking at, there does appear to be a pretty nice sized tear on one side of the knee. I assume that is the meniscus. If I am right, it is no wonder it is such a pain!

I enjoy your honesty. You are absolutely right. There are times.... The good thing is you went to the gym and gave it a shot. Sometimes, that works and sometimes not.

I heard back from my doctor today regarding the MRI on my knee. It is a meniscal tear. The next step is to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic doctor to discuss my options (probably orthoscopic surgery).  My doctor confirmed that what I saw in the MRI was the tear. It looks pretty awesome. No wonder it hurts.

I worked chest today. I will post up my routine after working out tomorrow, so I can do two at a time. -Seems easier. I feel like I had a good workout though.

-Saw my urologist this morning. My labs are good. The PSA remains at .02 and the total testosterone has doubled to 401. I talked my doctor into allowing me to increase the dose from 200 mg every other week to 300 mg every other week. Many doctors believe your testosterone levels are fine if they are in a good range for your age. Since the older one get the lower their testosterone usually goes, this isn't a great gauge for someone who is trying to maintain the physique of a much younger person. When one is at their peak, their testosterone is usually around 1,000. I am shooting for something near this. Of course I will monitor myself for sides. My liver is solid and I have never experienced any problem with breast tissue in the past. I think my body is crying out for more test.  Grin I am sure you all know folks who abuse steroids including testosterone. Trust me, I am nowhere near the doses these folks invent for themselves. Plus, my doctor is legit and he wouldn't allow me to go overboard on his watch.

What I need to know is, how long before I can get back to heavy leg work? Steve and I are engaged in a contest and he's ahead right now and showing me no mercy. I cannot afford to lose ground here or I will never beat out his wheels!  Grin

well i had an op in 1999 because of this below. after surgery i did physio but to be honest Jay...go bike riding every day at least 30 mins. I was very active in Wado Ryu Karate then and had to stop it for a while. The Professor in the Hospital told me have you a bike ? i said yes...he said well then...cycle every day and slowly integrate some hills in there too. He was an old School sort of guy and was correct. I liked his straight talking way. It took about 6 weeks to really get a bit better but you can start leg press after 2-3 weeks. As for Karate....he told me it will take about 8 months too heal 100%..i tried to do Karate after 3 months and it hurt...well i guess thatīs why he was a Professor... Grin. Get on the leg press and Abduction/adduction machines...leg curls and extensions i would not do. Then again maybe you are diffrent to me. My cartilage was damaged. the vastis medialis and lateralis can be safer trained after an op.
